I’ve seen the Omaha Steaks banners online and I’ve passed by the stores for years, but never tasted anything. I’ve heard from friends for years that their stuff is good and I just had a craving. So for Father’s Day I decided to order one of their special packages.

What I Ordered From Omaha Steaks

The Fire Up The Grill package 1 $59.99 $59.99

While my Omaha Steaks were en route to my house I had an opportunity to ask a friend soon after my order if she ever had Omaha Steaks. She exclaimed, “OMG they are the best.” Nuff said, I was pumped and ready for arrival.

It has been a long five or six months without a meal plan. I was nauseas for the first 4 months of my pregnancy and the past month or so we’ve been working on our kitchen remodel. I finally have a working kitchen again and I have a great appetite. I also feel extremely guilty for totally copping out on any cooking for so long. My family and myself have definitely suffered…and I am so sick of eating out. So, this is the week that I am starting back into my meal planning. I cannot wait to start working in my brand new kitchen!

Monday: chicken taco salad with cilantro ranch dressing

Tuesday: spaghetti and turkey meatballs, salad, garlic bread

Wednesday: shrimp with mango cilantro dressing, salad, corn

Thursday: pizza and greek salad

Friday: chicken curry with chickpeas and tomatoes, rice, zucchini

What’s cooking at your house this week?

So I’ve been on this cooking kick, as some of you may have noticed if you keep track of my menu plans each week. I’ve realized, though, that I am ready to kick it up a notch and I am totally bored with all of my current cook books. I love cook books though so I am looking for a few good suggestions.

I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about Jessica Seinfeld’s new one called Deceptively Delicious. Wouldn’t it make more sense being called Deliciously Deceptive? That’s besides the point. The book looks really good and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Currently my staples are Barefoot Contessa, The Healthy Cook, and a collection of printed out recipes from the food forums here. I have a few Williams Sonoma and other random books, but none of them do much for me.

What’s on your cook book shelf?
