Hey there. I'm using a FoodSaver 350 food vacuum. I've noticed that it takes quite a bit of time before I can get anything sealed. Sometimes I just keep pressing the button and it simply doesn't seal (bought at auction, so I guess that may be it).

Is there a recommended brand or brands that's easy to use and does the job consistently? I'm putting the end in the middle of the vacuum seal (the "U-shaped" hole), but something's not working correctly.

Any help will be greatly appreciated! :)

I used a foodsaver (don't remember the model number) bought new with no difficulties.

If you really want the best for your money, I suggest checking Consumer Reports at your local library - they do a bang up job of evaluating top of the line, median, and 'economy.'

Thanks again, Sydney. I'll check out Consumer Reports more often. I should've done this earlier, but I wasn't sure which one did the better job.

I only paid $40+ on ebay for this, plus shipping, so I didn't spend a lot on it. I was just hoping that it would seal more consistently, especially since I'd placed the open end of the bag in the same place. Sometimes it sealed perfectly, others, it didn't.

Oh well.
