the instructions on my sweaters all say to hand wash and lay flat to dry. ok, where am I supposed to "lay flat"? sorry if that sounds ridiculous, but I really don't know.....

thanks in advance,

I have a couple of these

They're pretty cheap. I can't remember where I got them, probably Wal-Mart, but I'm sure you can get them about anywhere.

I usually (which I don't own many sweaters) lay them on top of the washer or dryer or even over the back of a chair. After they're dry or almost dry I throw them in the dryer w/ some fabric sheets on the fluff cycle.

BTW......I rarely read washing instructions :D unless it's silk, seude, or leather I wash and dry almost everything  no wonder some of my clothes could probably fit Jax

I "lay flat" on a towel in my spare bedroom. The door MUST be closed though so Phoebe (cat) doesn't have a nap on the shirt/pants that are "laying flat..." and she WOULD , believe me! :D

That's the quickest way I've found-- but I might take a look at the link Joni just gave to see what she is talking about, too.

Joni- I like that thing-- is it easy to store? I don't want it to be sitting out- can they collapse or fold down quickly or do they stay that way? J/W.

The ones I have you can take apart. The frame is basically PVC pipe that fits together, then the mesh part you can fold up. They're easy to take apart and put back together. They also unstack, so I slide them under the bed most of the time.

I had the thing that Joni put up when I lived up north and was single. Honestly, now I don't buy anything that has to be hand washed or line dried ;) Too much time investment on that with a toddler and a newborn.

The items I owned from before having kids I just throw in on delicate cycle and then dry on delicate. yeah, it shortens their life but it's not like they serve me any purpose sitting in my closet :)
