I accidentally planted a bouganivlla along my back fence trellis (thought I'd bought two mandavilles). It's ok because I really wanted the bouganvilla but it's the color of the flowers that has me confused. Shortly after I planted it, there were purple blooms. Now it's blooming again but the blooms are white with a slight tinge of pink on the edges. Can anyone tell me why?
I live in Tampa FL so the climate is hot-as-hell w/ killer humidity to nice and cool. The plant gets medium sun. I scatter Miracle Gro every six weeks or so. Other than that, I generally just ignore the plant and it grows like crazy. Hopefully it will cover the trellis by summer and block my neighbors' view of my backdoor. It would be nice to have some bright flowers in there too!
Oh yeah - the mandeville is just hangin' in there. If it dies, I'll probably replace it with another bouganvilla.
Any help would be appreciated. I'm new at the Florida gardening thing.
