My friend will be getting married in July and I am in the wedding party.
I wanted to put together something small for just women, or maybe a combined party. The thing is, the bride is originally from here but both the bride and groom now live in a different state and will be flying in. As well as a handful of the grooms family and friends. Another thing is that I will be giving birth a month after the wedding, so I will be really pregnant at that time.

I have been reading up on themes, games, foods, party favors....but wanted to find out info. first hand from those of you who had planned or attended a bridal shower. I had made one once before for a family member.

The shower will most likely be at either our house or someone else's house and the food would be made by us.

My sister did a really good job on my bridal shower, so I just thought I would tell you some of the things she did for me. It was at my sis's house, and she made these little finger sandwhiches (or she might of ordered them but the were cute!) and she also had a veggie and a fruit tray, with some chips and dip. The one game I remember was everyone had a piece of paper stuck to their backs and everyone had to give you clues as to "who was on your back". Everyone but me had a famous person, and I had my grooms name. They came up with really creative hints to who the person was and I had to guess who it was like everyone else. Yeah and the bride has to go last. It was really funny how some of the girls described my dh.

I am planning one for my best friend too!

So far we have decided on a Martini theme... going to serve finger foods and assorted martinis. And "prizes" for games are martini themed.

As for games, not too sure yet. Here are some things I have seen done.

1. Recipe card-- everyone arrives with a recipe, a signature dish-- bride has to guess the source, and builds her recipe box (I use mine all the time!)

2. Everyone writes down advice for the couple-- they have to guess the source. Hilarious.

3. We did Brideandgroom-eopardy for sis. It was very fun... made a game board out of construction paper.

4. I've heard of a game where guests are given a bunch of old magazines and catalogues and have to create a picture of the groom and bride in ten years using the images. Never actually seen this done.

5. Word games-- guests have to create as many words as they can out of the letters of the bride's and groom's names.

Also, for sis we had a cake for the party-- and we got old pics of them made into the edible decoration paper and decorated the cake with it. That was a hit.

Have fun!
