What pets do you have? What kind of personalities do they have?

We've got 5  We've got 3 cats (George, Weezy, and Smokey) and 2 dogs (Jurgen and Snappy.) All were strays except Snappy.

George is definitely the king of the house and he knows it. Him and Smokey, who is male also, are in cahoots together and always take naps together and will play fight each other sometimes. Weezy, the female, is left out and sometimes gets ganged up on by the other two. George and Smokey run for the hills when the kids come near but Weezy is really sweet and gentle and will let them pet her.

Snappy is an American Eskimo who is very yappy and Jurgen is this huge horse like mix of Lab and Husky. He's 82 pounds and we don't have to bend over any to pet him he's that big. He's friendly and loves everybody but has the meanest bark.

Your post made me laugh. That is so cute about all your pets. Sounds like a fun household! :)

We have one cat, Janice, who is 13 or 14 (not sure exactly as she was a stray). She is such a pretty girl ....orangey/ginger colored with big green eyes and a pink heart shaped nose. Sadly, she isn't that healthy anymore and has dwindled down to hardly anything. She is as light as a feather and it's really sad. All she does is lay around, except if someone is in the kitchen or eating, she begs for some. :( Poor little girl. Ok, I just totally turned your adorable thread into a pitiful post. I'm sorry. It's just really sad for me to see my girl like this.

I have an 80 lb english bulldog named Winston McDuff III (we call him duffy, puppy, Winston or moose). He is the most loveable lug ever although he looks mean, especially since the only trick he knows is to show his fangs (people get scared when he sits down in front of the & bares his fangs).

We have Phoebe (calico cat) & Abbey (jack russell/terrier mix dog).

Phoebe was the cat I desired to have in my college apartment b/c I really wanted to have the company when my roommate was gone (and I just like cats). I found her advertised in the paper w/ other kittens (in 2001) , and when we went to get her, she was underneath a tractor  Now she loves her home. :D She thinks she rules the house, and she really did until Abbey came along....

In 2003, a student of mine brought a puppy in to school. He told me his dad was going to "dispose" of the puppy if he didn't find a home for it soon.... great... so yeah, guess what sap couldn't stand it and took her home!? Well yes, that would be me! I'm crazy about animals.

Thus, Abbey joined our home. She is fabulous... the best dog in the world.

Abbey's personality is sweet. She sleeps in our bed every night; she gets under the covers and sleeps by our feet. She would stay there until 2pm if we stayed there. She only has to get up to go potty every now and then, just like us ;) She is the most devoted doggy of all time. I am in love with that pup.

Phoebe kind of hated abbey for a while, which is why we were worried about bringing a new animal into the residence. But, they do fine now. They just rumble every now and then over a certain bone that abbey thinks phoebe is eyeballing, or something of that nature. Nothing serious. Phoebe is fickle, like all cats, and only *she* can choose when she wants to hang out.

Ok-- Hope you enjoyed reading the saga of Megan's pets! :D They are grand. I wish I could own 90.

We have Romeo... he's our 100+lb black lab and such a joy and truly great dog. He's very similar to his name. So loveable and LOVES to do tricks. He can sit, 'relax' (lay), take a bow, play pick a hand (for a treat), give 'Five', speak, and play hide n seek (I hide he seeks, lol). He was our first born, and a great companion.

My guy is afraid of dogs. I don't know why, but I do know that he was even scared of my parents' corgies. Anyhow- here on Crete, the locals don't usually believe in neutering their animals - and the overpopulation of dogs and cats is astounding. Here in our village alone there are more than 30 stray cats - there are no stray dogs, really, but that's because there is a dog rescue (British) person here. Our village has about 25 people (a generous estimate) and all of them have a dog or 7.

Since we moved here, we've named most of the dogs we see regularly - there is Short Dog (he's bigger than a rotty, but he's a dwarf?!!) Dog Who Kicks Back, Ernst, Spot, Bad Dog, the Craddick dog, and Little Barky Dog. Little Barky Dog lived next door and spent all her time barking towards the road. She's not terribly loud, but it is annoying. On holidays, Cretans fire pistols into the air - don't ask me why. It's illegal now, but no one here respects the law. Christmas night, we went out for a smoke (yes, we smoke!) on the patio and little barky dog was cowering in our garden. In six months, we'd never seen her leave her driveway. I couldn't stand it, so I brought her inside. After the shooting stopped, I put her back out and she went home. The next morning, I was working at my computer when she barked once - at our door. I let her in for a visit, then put her out again. The next morning, same deal. That night, she came back and barked once. I let her in, and she's lived with us ever since. As it turns out, her name is Marigina (hard g sound.) She belonged to some Germans originally, but when they went back to Germany, they gave her to a Greek couple (who lived in the house next to ours.) The Greeks don't do 'dogs in the house' as a rule, and when they moved accross the mountain (1.5 miles) they took her with them but she came back, 3 times. Finally, one of our dog loving neighbors told them to leave her here, because she was happy. That neighbor has fed her and the new tennants in the house next door let her sleep on their doormats. That was 2 years ago, and how she's been living. Last year, the bad dog attacked her and she nearly died - which was why she wouldn't leave her driveway. Now she loves to walk with me on her lead - though if she sees the Bad dog, she barks her fool head off. I pick her up and yell at the bad dog (who is never tied or inside) till he leaves us alone.

We call her gina (hard g) and she's perfect. She's extremely polite, she never asks to go outside but never had an accident, she's not overly active, and she has barked only twice since she came. Once when our neighbor knocked on the door but we couldn't hear because we were on the patio, and once when I'd been sick and quarantined in my room for 3 days - when I finally got better and came down, she got so excited she gave a bark.

The best part is that my guy isn't afraid of her, and is losing his fear of the other good dogs in the neighborhood, too.

I love reading about everyone's pets! We have a 4 yr-old Pointer mix named Susie. She was rescued at 6 months from an elderly lady with a soft spot for animals who couldn't afford to feed them all. We got her from the SPCA when she was a little over a year old... they had a lot of trouble adopting her out because she was not well socialized and would ignore anyone who came to visit her. My husband grew up with dogs, but Susie is my first. She is very lazy, loves to sleep in the sun, unless a squirrel enters the backyard and then look out (thankfully she's only gotten one  ). She never does anything bad except that she's terrified of strangers. So when anyone but us comes over, she growls to let them know that she doesn't want to be friends. We just separate her from most of our guests unless they are regulars. Eventually she gets used to the regulars and will be in the same room with them without growling, but very few have actually been able to pet her.

We also have an aquarium with 3 Corydoras (Moe, Al, and Julie) and 1 male Beta (Sparky).

We have two dogs and a ferret. (kind of a big messed up family)

Gabby is our inside dog, she is part chow, part rot, and part Shar-Pei. She love kids and they can do what ever they want to her (even if that includes sticking their arm down her throat  ) I got her from my mom when she was four weeks old and she is a pretty good dog.

Deuce is our chocolate lab. He is such a baby doll. He is out side in a kennel. I tryed for over a year to get him to potty break but it was no use  I got him when he was almost two and his previous owner had starved him and never gave him attention. Oh, yeah he loves to run in circles? I have no clue why but if you let him out of his kennel he will run circles around you, any table, chair, thing he comes across.

Weasel is our ferret, he is in a cage and goes potty in a litter box. He love to drive me nuts by knocking his water bottle off his cage and he totally thinks my slippers are his. He will take them off my feet and find some where to hide them. He also like to take off with dh's work boots which is really funny to watch because dh's work boots are at least three times bigger than he is.

Shan, that is hilarious about Weasle. I had a cat that was my first pet when I was about 5years old that I named Weasle. Haha! I loved that cat. She was my pet until I was about 17, when she got a cancerous growth on her ear that we removed 3 times, but the doc said it was going to kill her to keep having these surgeries. We had to have her put to sleep. I was devastated. :( :( :

How often do you let your choc lab out? I always wonder that of people who keep their pet in a kennel. J/W!

:dog: :cat:
