You know how when you move a heavy piece of furniture, the carpet where it sat is all smashed down? I found a great tip on how to fluff the smashed carpet and get rid of the indentation on Tipking (love that site!).

Get a steam iron and hold it over the carpet - do NOT let the iron touch the carpet fibers. The moisture from the steam will revitalize the carpet.

I just tried this, and it seems to have worked. I did a little fluffing with my fingers, too, and am interested to see what happens when I vacuum that spot.

take it from me...that in itself is a good tip!!!
there is a nice iron mark in our carpet and it feels all crunchy b/c I accidentally let the iron touch the carpet the other day while I was ironing something.

I've also used ice cubes on the depressed area - let them melt until the carpet springs back. Worked fine for us. Plus no iron marks.

LOL Oops, C! That's good advice for sofas, too. My mom was doing some spot ironing on our curtains that she made for us and dropped the iron. We have nice skid marks down the side of our loveseat now.

Sydney, silly me, I saw that one, too, and forgot about it. I didn't want to do that because I needed a quick fix during naptime, but it's good to know it works!
