We are looking into replacing our toilets so I'm trying to decide which brand to get. Any suggestions on what a "good" toilet is?

Nope, but do you know anyone who is a plumber?
Maybe you could ask them for advice.

We have a trust worthy plumber. Just never did this before.

Our city provides rebates for replacing all the toilets in your house with the low-water usage kind with the pressure assist systems. We looked into doing that, but decided against it for a few reasons:

- They have a list of approved brands and models.
- They will only reimburse up to $100 per toilet.
- Every single one of the ones we wanted that were on the list cost significantly more than that ($180+). (We wanted an elongated bowl and most of the cheaper ones were only available in round bowls.)
- We spoke with some employees at various hardware stores and they said that the pressure-assist systems tend to wear out after about 5 years, which is also when the warranty expires. After that, you have to replace the whole PA unit, which costs about $150. We figured it'd be better overall to just find a regular-style toilet and not have to worry about expensive replacement parts.

We haven't had to replace our toilet yet...knock on wood. But I would probably go to Lowes or Home Depot. They usually can let you know the differences and the features. I can tell you ours is WHITE:biglaugh:
