We went looking for refrigerators this week and browsed around Sears. We weren't set on getting the freezer bottom models, but after looking around some more and realizing our son couldn't open the bottom himself, we decided to get that style of fridge.

We looked at the different Kitchen Aid's, Kenmore's, Kenmore Elite, and LG models and finally decided on the Kenmore Elite Trio  . Its the new model with Ice and Water on the door. Its pricey too, but we've been using the same fridge for over 5 years and its the fridge that came with our house when we moved in. So that was another 5 years. 10 years with this fridge and we decided to replace it.

Reasons for replacing:
-We never use the water or Ice.
-Not very big and there is alot of room on both sides of the fridge. I guess the space was built for a bigger fridge.
-Ice maker is broken
-Wanted a "drink only" refrigerator for the garage. We'll use it for bulk freezings too.

Now we have to organize our garage to fit the old fridge in and prep the space for the new one.

I want a fridge for Christmas! My cheap white one came with my old house. I want a new stainless LG that I've had my eye on for a while. But it's side by side, water & ice in the door.

We just bought a brand new stainless fridge ourselves - and were also wanting one with the freezer on the bottom. But after we started looking and pricing everything, we ended up with a side-by-side, water and ice in the door, etc. that was HUGE and perfect - and MUCH cheaper than the freezer on the bottom ones we were looking for. We actually went to a dealership outside of our area for it because they deliver and have a GREAT service policy.

I would just say check around - be sure about the service policy - deliver and etc. before you buy. It might change your mind... but it might not. I can say I LOVE mine! Good luck!

We ended up getting the Kenmore Elite with freezer on the bottom and it is amazing! You can SEE everything in the fridge and freezer and it is so easy to organize and keep clean and neat. I also love love love having the ice and water on the door.

My one and only complaint is the button to get water and ice is a little weak. It's not the lever-type so you can't really use a paper or plastic cup without using your hand to push for the water. Oh well...

Another thing I never knew is that stainless steel fridges are not magnetized. Our previous fridge was covered with photos and magnet toys for my son on the bottom so it took me a while to get used to it. However, it looks SO MUCH NICER now with nothing on the front.

I got my LG too! Love it! It's titanium so I can put magnets on it. Good thing because Brandon has 2 of those Leap Frog thingys for the fridge.

Actually more than the look of stainless, I'm enjoying the crushed ice in the door. And oh yeah Csara, paper cups wouldn't work in our's either. But luckily we never use paper. Just plastic and glass.

Love having this though! It's soooo HUGE. And we can see everything when we open the doors.

I will be shopping for a new fridge and stove this summer. I want black appliances though. I want the side by side with ice/water dispenser. I have my eyes on one at Lowes. Not too pricey either.

We are renting a house on Long Island, so when we moved in Doug bought me a side/side Jen-air, water/ice on the door, something I have always wanted. Also stainless steel, after 6 months I can honestly say I HATE THIS STUPID FRIDGE! Although I love the water/ice feature, (which I cant use either with a plastic cup), the freezer is way too small. So out we went to buy yet another smaller fridge, (thank goodness we get our appliances wholesale) which we put in our basement.
If I had it to do all over again, I would get the Brushed stainless steel, no finger prints, double door on top, bottom freezer. Of course water/ice in the door.
FYI, I have sold a lot of those LG's, people love them.. washers too.

We have the Maytag with the fridge on top (french doors) and freezer on the bottom. It's all black. The water is inside the fridge as we wanted to avoid little hands messing with things. It works very well and I LOVE the fridge part of it but the freezer is very small so we're in process of buying a separate freezer. All of our other appliances are brushed stainless and black. If I could go back, I would nix the stainless and go all black. With babies and stainless, there are constantly finger prints all over the appliances and they look dirty. Black hides that a little although you can see some markings-nothing as bad as the stainless.

Our oldest is 3 and he is able to open the freezer on the bottom. I was a little surprised as it's pretty heavy but he hasn't abused it too much so far.

Nicole they sell a lock for that. My daughter has a bottom freezer and I just purchased a feezer lock for her, it was $25 or maybe a little more, but well worth it. My grandson was taking all her meat out of the fridge and it would thaw out and get thrown away LOL he's a hand full...Oh, and also, the brushed stainless that I am talking about, (maybe thats not the name, it maybe calling something else) is so much better, no finger prints at all. But expensive. I would get it, cause I dont have little ones living with me, only visiting. hmm, welllll. LOL

Do you recall where you bought that lock? I think we need to go and purchase it ASAP. Do you now what the name of the stainless is that doesn't finger print? It would be good to know for the next house.

New GE CleanSteel™ Refrigerators Offer Look of Stainless Without the Fingerprints
Innovative design also holds magnets and makes clean-up a breeze

LOUISVILLE, KY - All proud parents like to see their child's fingerpainting masterpieces displayed on the family refrigerator, not the child's fingerprints. With GE's new CleanSteel™ refrigerator, the artwork stays - the fingerprints don't.

In fact, the new GE CleanSteel refrigerators were designed solely for consumers who like the look of stainless steel without the fingerprints or the inability to hold magnets.

"Twenty percent - or one in five - of all side-by-side refrigerators sold the first three months of 2003 were stainless," according to Robert Rogers, refrigeration marketing manager for GE Consumer Products. "However, some consumers are still hesitant to purchase stainless steel refrigerators for their kitchen because of its inability to hold magnets and the way fingerprints show so easily."

CleanSteel is the answer to those consumer concerns. This new finish from GE offers the premium stainless look, resists fingerprints, and holds magnets to display everything from to-do lists to photographs.

The CleanSteel exterior is made from a laminate material that is rolled onto the steel with a protective coat rolled on top of the laminate. Cleanup is a breeze. No special cleaners are required -- just a damp cloth. The color is designed to complement kitchens with other stainless products or to add pizzazz to a more traditional white or black kitchen.

These innovative refrigerators are as functional inside as they are outside. The 24.9 cu. ft side-by-side model features upfront temperature controls, adjustable SpillProof™ glass shelves, a Tall LightTouch!™ Dispenser, the GE SmartWater™ Filtration System, a sealed crisper and an adjustable temperature deli pan.

The 17.9 cu. ft. top-freezer configuration includes SpillProof™ glass shelves, upfront temperature controls, a sealed vegetable / fruit crisper, and gallon door storage.
The estimated retail price for the side-by-side (model GSL25JFPBS) is $1,099. The estimated retail price for the top-freezer (model GTL18JBPBS) is $649. Both the side-by-side and top-freezer models are now available to consumers.
