Cleaning Lady

How many of you use a cleaning lady? How much does she charge and how many hours does she stay at your house?

We have one come every week. She stays for about 4-4.5 hours and charges $60. I keep trying to find one that stays longer and charges less, but it's been a challenge.

Ours charges $75 and stays about 1/2 day. She does do an excellent job and is trustworthy so I think we will keep her.

We just moved so I'm looking for a new cleaning person. Our house is 4100 sq ft so hopefully they won't charge an arm and a leg to clean it.

How does everyone go about finding a cleaning person?

My sister has one that stays about 2-3 hours... once a week and charges about $40, but sometimes she's good; sometimes she's not so good.

However a friend of mine's mom has her own cleaning service and I suggested her to my mother - and my mom has been very pleased. I'm no sure what she charges - depends on the number of bathrooms and exactly what you want done. At first my mom was (truthfully) being a pain - especially considering she wasn't cleaning at ALL herself. But now that she's actually TOLD the poor woman what she wants her to do, she's been very happy... and at least her house is getting cleaned (which it wasn't before).:confused:

How does everyone go about finding a cleaning person?
Word of mouth mostly....or you can check on craigslist.com
It is so hard to find someone good. Ours is alright, but I would switch in a heartbeat if I could find someone better.
