I have noticed a lot of old faces popping in here lately. I think its awesome. I see some new faces so I thought it would be cool to kind of re-introduce ourselves. I'll start....:D

I'm Heather. I'm mom to my 2 boys. Brenden is 10 and Zachary is 7 1/2. I have been married for 11 years and am a hairdresser. We live in a rural little town in Upstate NY. Not too far from the Penns, border. My favorite things right now are playing with my computer scrapebooking programs. I love to snap pictures then play around with different effects.

What about you????

Hi! I have not been around here since September .... yikes!! My name is Megan. I recently had my first child, Cale Bradley, on November 25th, 2006. I've been a member of these boards since '03. I really enjoy talking about my family and hobbies with everyone here. :) I am 26 years old, married for 4.5 years to my high school sweetheart, and I teach 7th grade Developmental Reading/Writing.

I'll try to pop in more often!! Promise!! Sorry for my slacking. :banghead: :nono:

Congrats Heather!

Me, I'm Mart. I'm history professor in Canada. I just earned my doctorate in October and am currently teaching at my home uni, while looking for a tenure track job elsewhere. My hub of 5 years and I have no kids, and have no plans for any, but I have 2 adorable nephews (Ben and Isaac) and a niece I adore (Courtney Bea). We have a great cat, Gloria Alexis, who is tragically turning us into creepy cat people. Not a huge hobby person, but I run, and am contemplating trying a marathon this year. Such a committment tho, so I dunno. It is also my New Year's resolution to read more books for pleasure, so I will be keen to share what I read/hear what you all are reading.

Great idea for a thread, Heather! I am excited to see everyone here and hope that we can keep this up and get HT back to a hoppin' place again. That is DEFINITELY one of my New Year's resolutions.

Anyway, Hi - I am Courtney...aka Csara.....usually known as just "C" around these parts. :D I've been married to my hubby for over 6 years now and we have a beautiful 18 month old son named Jax. We love to travel and have taken our little guy around the world already. ;) We also love to go to movies, but that hasn't happened much since said little one's arrival. We also love to drink wine and eat yummy food.

I love to read! I am in a book club that meets once a month so I am going to post all the books that we read over in the HT Book Club forum for those of you who are interested. Otherwise, I love house projects, but haven't gotten into any recently. Maybe in 2007!

Well, I think that was long winded enough. SUNNY - so good to see you girl! Taylor is ADORABLE. Your journal is still waiting for you over at BT. ;) and MELIZ - sorry this is so late - but CONGRATULATIONS on your doctorate. That is awesome.

Hiiiii! I pop in from time to time!

I'm Rhonda from Texas. Very happily married to Carl. And we have three children -- the oldest of which is going to get engaged this year!!!! The youngest has started talking our ears off and he turned 2 in December.

We've had a rough 2006 with a couple of job layoffs, but we're hoping 2007 is better for us. Burning that green prosperity candle on the mantle every day!!!!

Happy New Year! I am a antique Home Talker:D , I am a grandmother of 5, yes thats right I said 5. I know I know many of you that know me are saying, but you only had 2 what happened, my children bless there hearts there like rabbits LOL. We have been real busy buying our first home, which we did not want to buy in or near the big city so we bought a beautiful home Upstate NY. We seem to be on the road more now then ever, going back & forth and what not. Now that the holidays are over, Doug is going to rip a wall down in the living room, (no, I am not happy about this) and put in a brand spanking new fire place with old fashioned bricks and new beems he is driving me nuts with this project of his, but it's ok cause he has given me the job of re-doing 2 of the 3 bedrooms :D :D . And I am having a ball doing it too.
We just purchased our very first, (let's see if I can spell this) Jaquizzi? is that right? nah, but you guys know what I mean, and we r also going to finish the half finished basement.
So I'll be around here picking everyones brain :D

I'm Jessica - 26 years old married to Clint who will turn 30 next month. We've been married for 4 years, together for 7 years. We have a 1 year old baby girl named Josilyn, whom we affectionately refer to as Toad. We both work full-time ... me in corporate america and Clint is an electrician. My ILs watch Josilyn when we are both at work which ends up being about 6 hours a day M-F. We are creepy cat people (lol Meliz), but sadly only have 1 cat right now. Our nearly 17 year old Siamese cats both died in 2006 ... Tyler died in May of kidney failure and Ping died in October of liver failure. Still very hard for me as I'd had them since they were mere kittens in 1989. Jade is our cat now whom is almost 9 years old - a slightly skiddish yet very girlie female cat whom we refer to as Bitty Chomps. She's a domestic shorthair black cat but just not nearly as affectionate, vocal, and lovey as Tyler and Ping were. We are researching cat breeds as of late and so a new kitten may be in the cards for us for 2007.

Jessica, so sorry to hear about your cats passing away. :( They were so charming and beautiful. I'm still hearing that song in my head "we are si-a-mese, if you please".

jessica
01-25-2007, 09:08 AM
Ryry ~ Thank you, I really appreciate it. They were definitely both charming and beautiful ... a big loss for us and sadly just seems like the bond I had with them will not be easily replaced as I spend SO much time with them as kittens since I was so young and could just lay around with them after school and during summer vacation ... it'll be very hard to find that again but I think some may have to do with breed and Siamese are known for those types of qualities. Sighs - I was thinking about them a lot last night as I was having a hard time falling asleep - probably why I was so long winded about them in my post. :/

For some reason I am not getting my emails when someone responds to posts I have posted in? I dunno why?

Anyway, we have no definite plans yet but I have Reno/Lake Tahoe on my mind! I thought about Vegas but one of my friends said Vegas is horribly dirty looking now days but Lake Tahoe is gorgeous! I'd really love to rent a houseboat or fairy of sorts and marry on the boat :inlove:

I've also thought of a cruise, but I don't want to go on a cruise without my boys, when I do finally experience that I want my boys with me :five:

Just a thought... My Oldest Son turned 18 today (1/27) and he graduates in May. Where does the time go? It was just a couple of years ago he was 4 and the most hard headed youngster on the planet, and somehow, I raised a kind gentle young man.

I can't even believe he's this old already  :(

Hey Paragon,
I know the feeling. My son is 22 now, and when I think back to when he was 4 or 5 he was running all around the house bouncing off walls. When he went to school the school told me he had ADHD. I was floored, of course I didnt know what it was. But once he was on meds which I fought against for about 4 years, I realised this was good for him. Today he is off meds, but lazy  , he dont move. Nothing like when he was 4 :biglaugh: I guess he wore himself out LMAO.
Anyway, today he is working, part time, and doing much better, not where I would like to see him, but it's a start. He is my last, and my only boy, so he got spoiled really bad.
Oh, and I was thinking of Vegas too, but now that you said that, I am going to have to re-think it. If and when we do anything, I cant imagine my daughter and 4 baby's there. Not only are her and I not as close anymore, but the kids would run all over the place LOL. I remember way back when I had posted that my daughter would be my maid of honour, well that all changed, I would want Brittany, and Logan there, and that is it! Gotta look into this Vegas thing..

We are in the process of completing visa paperwork which will give my husband permanent residency in AUstralia before we move there, hopefully later this year. The kids and I are already citizens.

SS I am sorry about your BF, what happend?

It's a long story, hard to explain.. but to sum it up, he lived in Germany, I live in Spain... I was willing to move to Germany with him but since he's Turkish, he wants to go back to Turkey... and in fact, Germany is not my dream either, I'd rather spend a few years working here are there. Moving to Germany would have meant that I would be almost married, and I'm just 21 and I'll have my degree in June, so no way!!! And, of course, no way I'll move to Turkey (and he didn't want me to do that either because it would be unfair for me).
It was a sad break-up because we both loved each other and wanted to be together, but reality was stronger than everything else. I'll always remember him as my first love, and as someone who really cared about me and was good to me till the end... :inlove:

Csara

Tigerlily and Scully - it is good to see both of you!! It's been a while.

Jessica - I'm so sorry about your kitties. We had a Siamese mix growing up and he was so loving, loyal and vocal. He was such a sweetie pie and I still think about him and miss him even though it's been many, many years since he's been gone.

Strawberry - Sorry to hear about you and your BF, but it sounds like you made a very mature decision. How are you doing about things now - are you still sad?
