LOL Jana, the neon blue cabs are in my house on Long Island where we rent. The pictures I am posting now are from our house Upstate. But I'll get a pic of those cabinets, but be forewarned, you had better have sunglasses:biglaugh: :biglaugh:

This is the view looking out the front windows. I love to sit in the kitchenette and have coffee in the morning and watch the sun come up over that mountain.:)

This is our fire place for now. Doug is riping that whole wall down and installing a brand new wood burning stove with real red brick surrounding it.
I like it the way it is, but I am sure he will make it look better. He had better make it look better or he will be very sorry he even thought about doing anything to the fire place. I'll post a after when he's done. We'll see..

Great view. Amazing how much it resembles here in KY. I guess I pictured all of NY with big buildings and concrete
Anyhoo, LOVE the house. I'm very happy for you, you deserve it!

Lovely! That view is stunning! And your house is so homey! Love the wood work... and the fact that you have a real wood burning fire place (and soon stove). That is one requisite that any house we have will have. I mean the propane fireplaces are nice enough, but just not the same. Oh, and great job with the posting of pics. :)

And thanks Meliz, I tried so hard with these pictures. I posted about 4 or 5, and it only took me 3 hours :biglaugh: , hey, not bad for lil ole me LOL...
Ok, I am going into my kitchen now, I am getting pics of those neon cabinets, and a bonus one of the wall paper too

You know let me explain one thing, Doug and I argue over this all the time. He feels we only rent, so just live with it, it's clean, so dont worry about it  , I on the other hand feel like I have to look at it every freakin day so I dont want to look at something I dont like. I dont want to spend a bunch of money, but I am sure painting the cabinets and removing the wall paper and/or painting over it can not cost all that much? Can it????
Ideas welcome....

 How well do you know your landlord? This works around here, but I'm not sure if it would in NY....ask him/her if you can do a couple of cheap improvements like tear down that wallpaper, paint the walls and cabinets a nuetral color, save the reciepts and have what $$ you spend taken off the rent. It couldn't hurt to try, all s/he can do is say no.
What's the status on the rental? Are you still planning to live there and use the house upstate as a weekend/part time home?

My Landlord and I are very good friends, and she really dont care what improvements I make. She did say if I wanted to paint anything she would pay for the paint. I told her I was putting a wood floor in the living room and she said I dont care do what u want, she said she would give me something toward the floor cause she said she would have put down new carpet. So I know she dont really care what I do.
As far as the house Upstate, that is for now, and at least for the next 3 years just a weekend/vaction home. We do hope to be up there permanent in about 3 years. So I figure if I have to stay here for at least the next 3 years why should I have to stay with those flowers and neon blue...Right??

If she's willing to buy the paint I would go for it. If you hate it that much, it would make it a lot more pleasent to be there. Tell Doug you'll cook more if "he" paints the kitchen since the landlady is buying the paint. If that doesn't work you could promise him other things :eyebrow: I bet your whole house would be painted in an hour :biglaugh:
Wow, you weren't kidding! That color would certainly wake ME up in the mornings, too! :D

Dam Krysti, why didnt I think of that :biglaugh: .. As a matter of fact I have thought of it, but, I am still weighing the pros & cons :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
Only kidding, no I never really thought of :eyebrow: . I'll give it a shot and let you know what happens...

We started peeling the wall paper off yesterday, just a little to see if its gonna be a hard job, and to my surprise it's almost like the wall paper wants to come off the walls as bad as I want it off the walls. It has been, so far, (maybe I should keep my big mouth shut) very easy to get the paper off.
I think I will continue later on today.
