C'mon that is a joke right?:) Or not. Just Googled and it looks legit. But it can't be. Is it?

Oh, and if it *is* for real, I dislike it on sooo many grounds it's not funny (pardon the pun):)

It is for real. I just got a quote and a sample on the way, lol. I doubt we'll do it but it does look appealing for our front yard.

Yes its real. Really fake!
Fake grass that never needs watering, never needs landscaping, anti-microbial, and feels real enough for me :).

We got samples and it feels pretty nice. You have to read the entire thing on it - it's environmentally friendly and has some type of micro-something or other on it so it can't get bacteria on it..

Heh heh. OK, now I believe you. Geeze, it does look real! Still, though, I am not sold.:)
Environmentally friendly in what sense? I guess if one would ordinarily use pesticides? Oh yeah, and I guess you if you use a gas mower it would eliminate that nasty stuff. I have to say, though, that the anti-bacterial property makes me nervous, as I think the world needs bacteria... I even stopped buying items with antibacterials in it, and boy is it hard! That stuff is everywhere and that cannot be good for our immune systems. What about bugs? What will this mean for the birdies that rely on them?
My reservations aside, it is pretty spaceage and cool. And even *I* would put it around a pool or something... If you do go with it, keep us updated. This may be the wave of the future, and you called it!;)

Definitely a futuristic product. We are going to use it as I'm tired of maintenance and weeding. We have redone our backyard several times and it always fall into disrepair.
Laying out the fake grass solves several problems for us.
We already have significant hardscape around the pool. The "grass" will soften up the rest of the yard. We originally just wanted to use pavers, but the city/neighborhood easements limit the space and I think the grass we can just layout all the way to the fence.
A play area for our son and future kids.
A third thing I didn't think of was color.
I'll do my best to document the project.

Looks really real.
Is it soft and smooth?
I'll have to put only a pool, pond , golf course or potted plants on it....
wait.... even better I'll plan spots for trees etc before I finally decide to put in the grass.
Can I cut out a piece of grass patch easily? mmmm

The feedback so far has been great from people who have seen it. We'll post some pictures tomorrow. I'm surprised C hasn't mentioned it yet.
Its so nice to sit or lay down on. No bugs flying around or jumping all around as you walk. Nothing. :toast:

It's just been raining a lot here so we haven't had a chance to take pictures. I will remind J to do it. :)
How do you guys like it, now that you've had it for a bit? :)

I realized I never got these pictures up!! I just vacuumed one section of the lawn today. I have only lazily vacuumed it once before, but today I gave it a time consuming treatment with the wet/dry vac.
Its fricking awesome. Not only is it a green solution that saves us from watering practically our whole backyard, and is a NO maintenance solution other than the once every 5 months vacuuming (also saving me time and money), but it prevents weeds from growing. Weeds are one of the banes of my existence.
The only downside is that the grass gets hot when its really hot outside. With shoes on it doesn't matter, but with bare feet it can be hot at 12 noon.
Best time to enjoy the Synlawn for us is before 12pm and after 3pm.
RedBedHead did you ever get those samples?
