dryer balls?

has anyone used those funny looking balls that you put in the dryer, instead of using fabric softener?

I haven't personally, but my aunt and my mom both use them. They seem to work pretty well. I am always tempted to buy them b/c they look so funny. :lol:

I've seen them but I love the smell of my fabric softener.

I thought they were used to help stuff dry better... like pillows and blankets? So I just always use a new tennis ball - then after give them to the doggies...

Are they for softening instead?

I think they are to break up any static in the dryer.
