Kitchen Cabinets I would like....

These are the cabinets I would like. I love country and almost a log cabin feel so this is what I think I would like. What type of countertop would go best. I know granite would look odd so I think just a nice laminate.

also I like white....I have black appliances too that are recent purchases.

Very nice! I like both cabinets, but if you go with the wood one, I'd say to go for the darker counter top. I like the contrast. The white seems like it would work with either one, but again, I like the contrast so I'd probably pick the dark one. It will look sweet with your black appliances.

Laminate is actually one of the best surfaces as far as healthy countertops go.

I do like the wood with the dark best. I saw at Lowes that they had nicer white cabinets with a dark green countertop and I loved it but I am trying to keep it neutral for decorating purposes and resale if we want to move to a bigger house.

I love that site thanks!!! Very helpful. I want a deep sink like in your kitchen. I don't like double sinks and we have a dishwasher so I don't wash dishes by hand. Lazy I know but hey it works...lol

The wood is almost exactly what we are getting! :D Great minds think alike. We are going with *I think* a dark marble. I am not for sure. I like the idea of white cabinets, but my MIL has them and is constantly scrubbing them down from the guys with dirty hands getting into the cabinets. We are also looking into stainless or black appliances. Great choices!

Heather - those are BEAUTIFUL cabinets! I love the way you can see the GRAIN in them!

I tend to like a contrast too... but you can REALLY do anything with that type of wood!

Question: Is this your FOREVER home? If it is, something you might want to think about... a bold countertop color - like a brick red, orange, green, something like that! I'm not saying DO IT - I'm just saying if you're going to stay in your house - you can get MUCH more creative with what you choose!

Okay - now if you're NOT forever going to live here... you do need to be a little more neutral. In that case, I also tend to go with the darker one. I like that it has some of the brown tones - but it also has the cool grey in it. That will make it go with the wood - and with silver or nickel or bronze hardware - whatever you choose. And depending on the paint you pick... you can do just all SORTS of things!

I can't wait to see! I LOVE looking at everyone's ideas... it gives me more thoughts myself (which hubby hates!) :evil:

Oh - I should have said - I do love the white too... obviously since that what's in my new kitchen! And I have stainless appliances, but the stove and microwave have black fronts on them, so it's a little of both and it looks very nice IMO. Again - I'm one from the contrast. Our counter is solid surface... and it's sort of a deep charcoal... but it has flecks of tan and white and another brown in it. I LOVE it! And my sink is all part of it - so there's no RIM to clean around! YIPPEE!

hehe we do have great minds don't we? :toast: I love the look of the wood. My Grandpa worked in a sawmill his whole life and we grew up in the woods with him. I love that natural wood look. I was also thinking that about the white and dirty fingerprints. I am leaning more towards the wood though.

I will defiantly post pictures of the remodeling stage and after....we are STILL waiting for warm weather to rip it apart. Last 2 nights it was down in the 20's at night....so a little cold to have the walls ripped out.

This isn't our forever house. It is too small and that is why we want to fix it up. We want move into a bigger house. My goal is to make it sellable and really put money into a larger home later. I love watching Designed to sell where they use $2000 and really fix it up(usually cosmetic) but it always alot of value to the house.

so what color paint would you recommend if I did the natural wood cabinets,dark countertop and the black appliances. Floor is a neutral beige tile laminat. I love the color of Csara and Jester's kitchen. Let me know what you think...

On the back wall of our kitchen, we have a really light greenish color called "Hidden Sea Glass". You can find it under the Waterscape colors at The Freshaire Choice | Product Information (http://www.thefreshairechoicepaint.com/product.html)

I am a big supporter of the no VOC paints. Their color choices are not as abundant as say Benjamin Moore, but they still have plenty to choose from. I think a very soft green would look good with the wood, black combo you are planning to use. Do you have Home Depot near you? That's where we got our Freshaire Paint.

You could really do almost anything Heather as far as paint goes.

I did an apple green (like a granny smith apple?) but all of the greens are very "in" right now... sagey tones, blue greens, even greys with a tinge of blue or green. Also, yellow tones are always beautiful in a kitchen - and will bring out the warm colors of your wood. It's really just whatever you like and what you feel sort of "flows" with the rest of your home.

I've even seen people do a grey or a beige and it look beautiful. Then you can add your color with all of your accents: towels, appliances, etc. That could make it easier for you to switch up.

Also, greens and yellows can be considered neutrals so you can still use accent colors with them as well. So have I made your even more confused?!? :blah:

Thanks C I have a Lowes and Home Depot about 1/2 hour from me so no problem there. I actually found a paint at Lowes that had low odor. It was great. I will check your suggestion out too.

I love any shade of green so thats awesome. I like the idea of doing neutral and dress it up with accesories. I was getting to "theme-y" Like right now its sunflowers in the kitchen. To the point where everyone I know buys me sunflower EVERYTHING!! Major overload. I want just nice and clean looking. Simple looking....

I would do a sage green or a blue/green. Something light and would easily go with anything the new owners may pick out. (I am personally leaning towards the sage green for my kitchen) :D
