stripping wallpaper

We moved into this house two years ago, and I am done looking at the ugly golf wallpaper in the home office. I was considering simply painting over it, but with the thick border I am afraid the lines are going to show through. The wallpaper looks like it was professionally done, so I am having a hard time finding any areas that are lifting.

Does anyone have any suggestions on stripping this off? I am pretty nervous to even start this project, but the paper is REALLY ugly!!!!

I used one of the scoring things then sprayed with wall paper stripper. It sat on for about 10 min. then I peeled it off. I found all of the supplies at walmart.
This is what I use....

My advice is to not paint the wallpaper. It won't look right and possibly the paint won't even take (ie it will bubble). You can also rent steamers that (in theory) will help remove the paper. It will be tedious, but worth it in the end. Good luck!

That was what I was going to say! LOL Of course I would probably try out Heather's suggestion first. Good luck. Maybe you can post some before and after pictures for us. :D

Don't PAINT! I've done remodeling and interior decorating for years and I swear I've tried EVERYTHING and you STILL can see the lines! I PROMISE!

Another thing you can try with the scoring... use warm water and Downey in a spray bottle! It helps dissolve the glue! I PROMISE and it smells good!

But if there's no sizing - and in some older homes there won't be (like mine!!!) rent a wallpaper steamer! I swear to you it WILL be worth it in your time and effort of NOT having to patch the HOLES and GOUGES you'll make in the wall trying to remove the darn border!
