refinishing a desk

I bought a solid wood desk last weekend from a neighbor who is moving. It's got some scratches and feels a bit dry in places. I can see a few spots where it looks like the stain has faded.

Has anyone ever used a product that claims to restore the look of wood, without going through the stripping, sanding, and restaining process?

I haven't ever used that product, but I have found that when they claim so much they rarely ever work as good as they say they will. Good luck with it! :D Let us know if it works for you, or how you do it.
