SLICES OF SIN
(serves 10-12)

8 oz. semisweet chocolate (use a good brand)
1/2 cup strong brewed coffee (not instant)
2 sticks butter
1 cup sugar
4 eggs (do not pour in one bowl)
1 cup heavy cream

Preheat oven to 350°

Line a glass loaf pan with foil and then butter foil(I only had light gray pan). In the top of a double boiler melt the chocolate in the coffee. Add the butter and sugar, stirring until the butter is melted.

Cool the mixture for 10 minutes then beat in 1 egg at a time. Pour the mixture into the prepared loaf pan. Bake until a crust forms on top, approximately 35-45 minutes. (the sides of mine came up higher for some reason)

Set the loaf pan in enough cool water to come halfway up the pan. The dessert will rise and fall as it cools.

When cool, wrap the pan well and refrigerate for at least 2 days or up to 2 weeks. (this helps set it).

When ready to serve unmold and slice and place a little whipped cream on a plate and a slice of sin on top.

Heaven, absolutely heaven.

I remember this recipe when it floated around 2 of the cooking boards I frequented, everyone went nuts over this. I have it in my to try folder and now I really have to try this. :D

I am laughing so hard right now - I have had this recipe for several years but all of a sudden I got hesitant about the 1 cup of heavy cream - so........ I thought I'd go looking to see if I could find it - well so far everything I've found has been my original post - even this one - (I didn't actually post this but it was copied and pasted from mine) because mine got higher on the sides - so I started thinking maybe the heavy cream should be put into the mixture - so........ I still don't know for sure - I originally got it off of maybe.......Garden Web? All I know is whoever posted it I love, love, love!!!! LOL I don't really like sweets but this is an exception.

Question - does anyone remember the square chocolates called Ice Cubes? They still make them but they are really hard to find now. Anyway, I think this tastes like those little chocolates.

I've got mine in the oven now so it will be ready for Thursday.

I still don't have a glass loaf pan though - I tried to get one today and didn't want to travel all the way across town to Wal-Mart

If anyone is going to make it for Thanksgiving make it for sure tomorrow - the longer it stays in the fridge the better -

Make it - you won't regret it :D

Thanks, I love Jack Handy. :biglaugh:

Since I'm not making Xmas dinner, maybe I'll give it a try for a dessert to bring to my sisters house. ;)
