Relatives

Do you have a big family or a small family? Do you like all of your relatives?

I have a very small family:
My parents, my brother and I, my mom's parents, and my dad's mother. My mom has 1 brother and him and his wife have 3 kids, my dad has 1 sister and her and her husband have none. That's about it......I don't know any distant cousins and my grandparents either don't have siblings or they don't talk to them.

My husband, on the other hand, has like 100 relatives. His grandparents have a million siblings and his parents have a million cousins. It's nuts.

My immediate family is tiny; however, my extended family is ENORMOUS! Both of my parents came from large families (my mother had one brother and three sisters; my dad had three sisters). All my aunts and uncles also had fairly large families, so I have TONS of first cousins (of which I am third from the youngest)... it just goes on from there... Apparently, I come from a genetic pool that REALLY enjoys :hump:!!!

It's too bad that you and yer fam don't get along April chick. But it's good that you can detatch yourself from those who give ya grief! It just isn't worth it! I have a large immediate family (4 siblings plus me-- 3 sisters and a brother) and an even bigger extended family-- my mom has 9 siblings and so did my dad, and they all have kids and grandkids. Hubs family is much smaller. Just he and his brother, and a smaller extended family. But we both have very close immediate and extended families.

well if i calimed them all i would have 7 half brothers/sisters. and tons of other family all of my mom and dad's kids have at least 5 kids of there own so...HUGE family

I'm in the same position as Andrea.. Technically, I have a medium-sized family. But I don't associate with any of them except for my younger sister (she just turned 17!!) and my grandparents. Jeremy has a small family, but the only people we really spend time with are his dad and stepmom, his mom, and his grandmother.

I have a pretty large family! I have my parents and 2 sisters, along with about 10 aunts and uncles, 7 great-aunts and uncles, and all f my grandparents!!! We are very spread out though so I enjoy them when we get to see each other!!! Dev's family is pretty small though, but they are so much fun to be with!!!

I have several families b/c my parents are divorced and my father remarried twice since then.
I am very close to my mother's family grandparents great grandparents ect. I have 1 older sister, 5 1st cousins, 2 aunts and an uncle, grandparents ect. and then I have extended family in Alabama and I'm very close to all of them 24 great uncles & aunts, around 34 cousins and the list keeps going.

I am also very close to my step father's family: 1 step sister, grandparents and 3 great aunts 1 great uncle I was very close to my stepdads brother before he passed away in 1995.

My father's family I never see except for one of his sisters. I haven't seen my dad's mom in at least 5 years and she only lives 15 min. from me. He also has 3 brothers and 2 more sisters but I haven't seen any of them since I was a teenager.

My father's second wife's family: I'm still very close to them

My father's new wife's family: Don't like her or her family...soon she will be an ex-wife. I did like her son Kyle who I treated just like a brother but he treats my father so bad that I don't have anything to do with any of them now.

Okay I guess that is about all of them.

I'm an only child but my mom has 3 sisters and 2 brothers. 2 of her sisters have 2 children each. 1 brother has 1 child and the other has 2. My Great Granny had (I can't remember how many) a lot of kids....so I have a lot of 2nd cousins floating around. My dad's family is smaller he only has 2 brothers.
I'm closer to my mom's family since most of them live close to me. We all may fight and bitch but when push comes to shove we're there for one another.

I've got two brothers and a sister. They're all younger. My mom has six other brothers and sisters so her family is quite large. My dad is the only "natural child" in his family and he has an adopted brother and sister, all younger. They don't get along though so I don't really consider them my aunts and uncles since they're not a part of my life. I've got a daughter, the only grandchild in my family and I'm the only one with a SO.

As for my soon to be family, my FI has two brothers and one sister, all older. Two of the three are married but only one has two girls. My FI's got a mom and dad too. Sometimes I wish he didn't though.:vent:

Meliz, my family sounds a lot like your family! I have three sisters and one brother, and my Mom has nine siblings. From my Mom's side, I have about a whole city worth of relatives, mostly living in Canada. I'm close w/ my three aunts from that side of the family. My Dad came from a small family though, one sister and I have 4 cousins who we're close with.
I have seven nephews and one niece (I wonder if this is going to have anything to do with the sex of my children, LOL). My husband has a small family, one brother and four sets of aunts and uncles. And they are great people!

I have a sister and brother, both older, both with one child. My brother is getting a divorce, and my sis is happily married. We're very very close--all of us. My dad is married to a horrible woman...I have nothing to do with them, or her 3 kids. My mom's side...I haven't seen any of them since my mom passed away, almost 12 years ago. My dad's siblings--haven't seen any of them in years and years either. I don't consider myself to have any cousins, aunts or uncles. All grandparents are deceased...many many years ago.

My husband has one sister, and his parents--we're very close with his parents. His mom has 2 sisters, and a father still living. One of her sister's is married...that whole family is crazy. One aunt, literally. We don't do much with them except the obligatory Christmas gathering, which is painful. My FIL is one of 4, all married, with 2-3 kids, and one of those kids has 3 kids...so all said, there's about 35-40 of us when we're all together. I love every last one of 'em. They're fabulous people, every single one. They're the type of extended family I always hoped for!!

My family is well, just HUGE!
Theres me of course (:D ), my two sisters, my children, my nephews and one neice. I have one granddaughter with another on the way and my neice is expecting also. Then there is my aunt & uncle, there daughter her 5 children, there 20 + children between them all and one more on the way. Then there are the family members that are not really family but have grown up with all of us and nobody could ever tell us we ARE NOT family. Theres about 15 of them and there children and grandchildren. Then, I have like 20 cousin's and all there children.
But my aunt & uncle's family and me and my children are the close's ones. We all live either on the same block or maybe 2 blocks away from each other. We see each other everyday, and if for some strange reason we dont see each other then we all talk at least once a day. My aunt had her house re-done about 4 yrs ago, and made her dining room bigger so that we could all have dinners together. And last year she had to extend even more cause it's still not big enough LOL. Shes talking about doing it again but this time in the living room cause at Christmas time when we were all opening gifts it was a little crowded..
Did I mention I love my family? They are the best. I dont know what I would do without them...;)
