i need your ideas...
SO, as part of an upcoming bridal show, i need to offer a $50 door prize for the couples who attend. from the position of planning a wedding & trying to stay on a budget, what is something with a $50 value that you would really use or appreciate right now? (can be a gift cert or an item, but must be something that they can walk away with the same day)
thanks guys!
I think a Gift Certificate would be excellent!! I actually thought of that before I read the end of your post.
It could either be to a restaurant, or to a store like Bed, Bath and Beyond. Something that they can spend together.
Edited to add: If it were me, I would prefer a GC to a store rather than a restaurant because we go out to eat and don't really think about the money we're spending, but we won't go to a store and buy things for ourselves. Does that make sense??

Speaking for myself, I'd prefer to get a $50 gift certificate for a restaurant.
But that's just because I can't really afford to go to decent restaurants (or take people to them) and eat good food anymore. :(

What part are you in the show? Are you just helping out in general or representing a certain booth?

I think a gift cert is a great idea. There's really nothing that is a set thing for wedding planning and what one couple may like others may hate. At least w/ a gc they can pick out whatever they want/like/need.
If you have massage centers/spas in your area, that would be a good gift as well.
Or, if the majority of people that are attending are mothers...a gift certificate/day pass to a play place would be good too....something they could take the kid/s too and get a few hours of relative peace ;)
SO... in the end I went with a basket full of kama sutra, gherrardelli(sp?) gourmet chocolates, a candle, some foot scrub/bath salts/soaps - bath stuff, a little square "thoughts for a long llife" book, & a few other couple-y things. I really wanted to do a couple's massage, or a dinner gift cert, but around here they were all over the $50 limit. Or a manicure for the bride to be, but that's not much fun for the boy, yk?
THANK YOU guys anyway, it helped me get the wheels turning. My sister who's getting married this summer suggested the basket of "lover's goods" as she called it. & we were able to make a nice gift for the $50 limit.
margarita - our company designs invites, but it had to be something they could walk away with that day or we would've given some stationery or something.

I see the dilemma with the invites. Not exactly an immediate gratification sort of thing. Sorry I wasn't faster so I couldn't help, but it sounds like you ended up with a great idea. :)
