View Full Version : Caught by surprise in the shower...

This morning, as I was rushing to finish getting ready and head downstairs, as I was late leaving for work, DH was in the shower and called out my name. I was a little frustrated at having to backtrack to go back into the bathroom as I was finally making progress. Standing there in front of him with the shower door between us, he looked at me and said, “ I just had this overwhelming feeling come over me and I had to tell you this morning that I feel like I married my best friend.”

Being the over-emotional drama queen that I am, my eyes welled up with tears and I opened the shower door (shower still going full blast) and kissed him and thanked him for telling me that and said I loved him.

It’s so funny how they can really catch us by surprise when we least expect it. It’s one of the greatest feelings in the entire universe.

You have a wonderful dh...you both are lucky to have each other.

Dh does things like that all the time to me. He will come in bed while I am sleeping and kiss my face and tell me that he loves me and that he thinks I am the most beautiful woman in the world. I hear him saying these things but still pretend to be asleep. :D

He has done this since day 1...6 1/2 yrs ago. He is much more affectionate than I am but I am trying to work on that...he always hugs, kisses, touches and initiates everything. I wish I could be more like him because I know he needs it too.

That is just about the most romantic thing I've ever heard! You made my eyes well up! The little surprises after all the years together can really make your heart melt.:inlove: It kinda makes you feel like you did when you first started dating, but it's ten times better because there's a depth behind it that wasn't there then. Mmmmmm.....warm fuzzie moments are the best!!!

My hubby of 21 years, still catches me off guard with comments that make me fall in love with him all over again. The comments are rare, as we are so caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and raising our three young children. But he seems to know just when I need a hug and words of encouragement. Like this past weekend, my 4-year-old and 6-month-old were hit hard with that nasty flu (vomitting & diarrhea). He's not one to lend a hand unless I ask for it, and he could tell I was exhausted, sleep deprived and worried about our little ones health. He scooped me up and told me what a wonderful job I was doing. He said, "I could never have hand-built a better mother for our children. You are everything I could ask for as a mother to our kids and as a wife to me." Boy does that give me a boost! And I struggle with being over-weight and he still reassures me saying things like "I love you no matter what, you are absolutely beautiful to me.":inlove: Our marriage isn't perfect. But when it comes down to what really matters in life. We have it all. We don't have much money, material things, fancy cars...you know. But we have what really matters...life, love and lots of smiles. I believe so strongly in the words of Randy Travis' new song "Three Wooden Crosses"... It's not what you take when you leave this world behind you. It's what you leave behind you when you go....

Life is about living and we try our best to keep things simple and in perspective, hard as it may seem with this crazy, busy world. Keeping grounded, that's what my husband and I are good at :D

Awww... how sweet!! I have tears in my eyes! My DH is like that too... just when I think I have him pegged, he goes and does something really lovey-dovey and mushy and just so sweet!!

That's just such an awsome way to start the day!!

My hubby has 3 long stemmed roses waiting in my car for me this morning. (our anniv was yesterday but he thought it was today, I told him he got an A for effort)

He likes to leave me stuff in my car since he comes home from work an hour before I leave. For Valentines day he had a Slurpee waiting in my cup holder. :D
