Hi everyone. I posted this over at WT too, so you can post at either one.....I'll check both. Here's the situation: we have a 9 year old female cat. She is the cutest little thing and we love her to death. She is not the most affectionate cat of all time, but she is getting there. She adopted me about 6 years ago when I was in college. Her previous owners abandoned her and she used to meow at my doorstep. She was an outdoor cat for the first 3 years of her life and then I took her in. I fell in love with her right away and just had to have her!! She always sleeps in bed with my husband and I, but she is not a real hangout kinda cat if you know what I mean. She loves attention, but only when she is in the mood. She won't let you just grab her and pet her for a long time, unless she is groggy. When she is sleeping, I always go and snuggle with her and she purrrs and purrs and purrs. Anyway.......we are thinking about getting another pet. Probably a kitten but there is a small chance we will get a puppy. My question is: how do we introduce a new pet to our cat? She is very spoiled and used to being our one and only. We have watched my mom's cat before and they did not get along at all. So, I am worried that she will freak out and I don't want to upset her, but we really want another pet. I am hoping that they will become friends. Anyone who has had experience with this, I'd love to hear about it. Does anyone know if she would get along better with a male or female?? (I know I must sound like a nut, but our cat is like our child....we are so attached to her). Thanks!!

Sorry C... even though we just got Zeek, he's in his box 95% of the time... When he is out Tigger tries to smell him and Spooky just runs away! Sorry I can't help you out!

I had to introduce many pets and they eventually get used to eachother. Keep puppy on a leash, keep kitties nails trimmed, and make sure each pet has boundaries and a place to escape to if they feel threatened or bothered. :dog: :cat:
