Do you have a retirement fund? Dh and I both have a 401K at work... he contributes the max amount (I think 14%) and I do 6%. Our company matches $1/$1. Dh really wants to start a retirement fund in addition to our 401K's (his motto is: work hard now, cash out early).
So, what do you put aside monthly for your retirement fund? Any financial guru's (self-proclaimed or other ;) )with some good advice?

J and I both have IRA's. I will point this thread in his direction and see if he has any info to share with you. :)

B has his PERA (which he'll actually get as opposed to my Social Security circular file) and a 403b through school. I had a 401k that I rolled over into an IRA. It's just sitting there right now. That's all we have at the moment. I wish we had the money to contribute extra to our retirement.
I have an IRA which I faithfully put in $100.00 a month.

Thanks for the feedback.
Does anyone know if you can do a "joint" IRA? For instance, if my dh and I want to contribute to one IRA, or is it best to do one IRA for each person?

I always go by the theory ... don't put all your eggs in one basket. Hubby and I have separate IRAs. His is a low-risk option, and mine is a high-risk 100% stock option. With the economy not doing so well, mine is losing money ... but we can count on his to still be holding solid.

I have a 401K through work which I put 10% of my check into every payweek. Robert & I both have IRAs that we set up when doing our taxes last year. We added to them when we did our tazes this year. My hubby also has a mutual fund from one of his past jobs & I add a little every now & then to that.

D, I got this from: http://www.fairmark.com/rothira/spousal.htm
How About a Joint IRA?
We get this question all the time. Husband and wife want to have a joint IRA for the two of them. Sorry, no can do. The "I" in IRA stands for "individual." If you commingle your IRA with any other funds, including your spouse's IRA, you disqualify it.
