Suzie...help, my washing machine conked out....

Hiya SQ, how's it going?

Last night I put a load of towels in the washer before I went out and when I got home, I noticed they were still sopping wet....like the water hadn't drained out. Well, I decided to put them in the dryer anyway :rolleyes: and ofcourse I'm ending up doing 3 cycles in the dryer to get them dry. Anyway.... I put another load of laundry in the washing machine this morning, the water fills up fine, but then it started making this horrible noise. So I look in the machine and it seems like the motor or something is busted b/c it won't spin. It just sits there making this noise. So, now I've got a washing machine full of clothes, soap and water, but it won't do anything. Please help!!

Well my first question is how old is the washing machine?
Doug says it's probably a belt, but, make sure you dont see any oil. If you see any trace of oil, its the tranny, and that can run anywhere from $168 - $200 for a new tranny.
Second, when you say it wont spin, does it agitate? You know, does it wash the clothes, and then stops, or the agitater just dont move???? Let me know.... Cause a agitater belt is very inexpensive, and J could probably install it himself...

Hi again! :D

The washing machine is probably about 6 years old. It fills up with water and then it won't spin so I guess the agitator doesn't move. It also won't drain. I know nothing about washers, but, was it good???? I really want to go see it but I doubt Janelle would behave through a whole movie.

Oh, the movie was great! I loved it. It was sooo funny. How old is Janelle? Cause Brittany is 4, and half way threw the movie she was wanting to go home, she said she was tired, (which she was), but I was not leaving that movie theater for nothing....
She never did fall asleep, she just kept asking if the movie was over :rolleyes: . After the movie, she seemed to have gotten a second wind or something cause when we got home she was fine. :rolleyes: Kids!

Thank you Suzie! I am actually going to call a whirlpool service representative today b/c the water's been sitting in my washer for 3 days now. :gag:

Sorry I never came back, but wow did we ever get busy!
Doug pulled 15 service calls yesterday by himself, he was really beat when he got home. Thank God we are starting to get busy, we were both very worried.
Today he took Neil with him, he has 23 service calls, :D this is a good thing.
It does not sound like anything major with your washer C, and I have a feeling you'll be up & washing in no time.... As long as Whirlpool dont make you wait forever for the part :rolleyes: , (I hate when they do that). But I trust Whrilpool, more then I trust anyone esle, which is why we only buy, and recommend whrilpool products :D
