My cat is about to have kittens anyday now.. When she lays in my bed I can see her kittens moving, and if I keep my hand on her belly I feel them kick. That is so cool...
This cat found me. I never had a cat, she just kept coming around and Brittany feel in love with her, (although the cat dont like Brittany to much LOL). And one night it rained so hard, I felt sorry for the cat so I took her in, and now she wont go away. Not that I want her to go away, I like her a lot. She is so mushy.. she loves to cuddle in bed with me or my son, she even cuddles with the dog when he lets her.
I have taken care of kittens before, but, I have never watched them come into the world, anybody have any tips for me??

leave them alone, no touching them, or letting anyone else touch them, for the first 24-48 hours. You should also keep children away from them, like not in the same room, for the first week.
Following these two steps can prevent 90% of the infections that can kill young kittens, and lets the kittens bond with their mother.
After that first week handling the kittens will actually improve their disposition, but obviously handle them gently untill they are bigger.

Thank you Cheatara.. BTW, anybody want a kitten??? ;)
Cheatara, can I encourage my cat,(her name is Shorts) to give birth somewhere, other then my bedroom closet??? I have a box for her, and its nice and comfy, with her favorite blanket in it, and she does sleep in it, but I see her going into my closet a little to often lately....

providing favorite things that smell right to them helps, but no matter how many times we tried to get our cats to give birth in a nice basket or box they always chose somewhere else. The bathtub, my underwear drawer, my brothers bed...

That is SO exciting!!! Are you going to keep the cat permanently?

That is so exciting! Kittens are just about the cutest thing in the world!!! :D
One piece of advice, though. You might want to have her spayed after this litter... Even though kittens are adorable, they aren't the easiest things to find homes for and I'd hate to have them end up in a shelter... or even worse... having more kittens of their own!

Oh Suzie, that is so cute! What are you going to do about the cat? Please say you'll keep her!!! :D Will you keep a kitty too or do you have to give them all away?

Hey! Me too!! Peace is due to give birth on Feb 23, and the vet says she could feel at least three babies in there. I'm so excited! I can't wait!! Being able to feel the babies moving around in there is just the best thing ever.
My cats don't go outside, and we took Peace to a breeder to be mated, so we know for sure that the babies were concieved the day before Christmas, because we dropped her off there that morning and picked her up that evening. So I'm busy thinking of Christmas-themed names for them... Noel... Chrissie... Nick... Tinsel... etc :) If yours are due soon, you've obviously got Christmas babies too!

Oh I could never give up Shorts now!! She is a part of the family. Right after this litter though, she is getting spayed. The last thing I need right now is a house full of cats.
I was never really a cat peron, I always thought cats were so independent. Not mushy, and cuddley like a dog. My dog sleeps with me everynight, my sisters cats wouldnt get in bed with you if you begged them.
I used to run a shelter for abandon & abused animals, so I had like 50 cats, but they were cats I found on the street and felt sorry for them, and they did all get good homes,(most are still with my sister ;) ).
But when Shorts came along, she was just a kitten herself. And she used to follow my dog around all day, so now she thinks shes a dog LOL. Its so cute though, when someone knocks at the door, she goes running to the door meowing just like the dog. And she is so afectionate.. And I know I am going to say that NO I am not keeping any of the kittens but, I will wind up keeping one, I know me.. I have a hard time separting mommy from baby.. If I was in my own house, I would keep them all

I am so happy to hear that you are going to keep momma cat!!! That is definitely a good idea to get her spayed. There are so many animals out there in shelters.

I had kittens!!! Well, I didnt have them, Shorts did...
She had 6, 2 died at birth. So now we have 4 kittens... They are just to cute.
They are 2 weeks old now. Happy b-day my little kitties...
Today, when I went to feed Shorts, she pushed one of her kitties toward me. Nobody has touched those kittens, hell I wont let anybody but me & my son in the same room at the kittens. But, today, when she pushed the kitten to me, it was like she was telling me something. So I picked up the kittie. AWWW,, to cute. Shorts is such a good Mommy. I think she just wanted us to know that it is ok to touch the kittens now.
Shorts spends her every waking moment in the room with her babies, and I think shes ready for a break now. She comes out more often now. But if she thinks I am going to kitten sit everytime she wants to leave the room she has another thing coming LOL... ...
She even let the dog snif her kittens today too. My dog has been locked out of the room, and he was very curious as to what was going on in that room, he heard sounds, and he knew Shorts was in there, but I could see that look on his face. Oh, BTW, my dog is about the same size as Shorts, maybe even a little smaller. Well Shorts lets the dog into the closet where the kittens are, and the kittens are looking for his nipples LMAO, it was hystrical.
Did I say I was not keeping one of the kittens??? Well, I knew it, I am keeping one, I cant help myself....

Thank You C,
Shorts says, Meowwwwwwww, (thats, thankyou in Cat talk) LOL..
Once I go in that room, I am in there for hours now. She had them in the closet of my laundry room. I guess cause it's warm in there, and I locked her out of my room.
I was playing with one of the kitties today, now I cant make up my mind which one I want to keep  . I knew this was going to happen, I want them all  !!!!1

:D Thank You! Not only am I a grandma, I am a KittyMa too :D
Brittany came to see the kittens and she fell in love with them. Of course she wants one, so does my daughter, but I will not give them one. Brittany asked me what they will call me when they grow up, so I said Grandma, Well she got very upset about that, and wanted the kittens to leave right now!!! LOL, so we came up with KittyMa, so now the kitty's can stay... LMAO.... Kids go figure....

They must be so cute Suzie. I know you are going to have the hardest time picking just one kitten to keep. How in the world are you going to choose?

Good question C! I dont know. I really want them all!
But, my neighbor is taking one, my cousin is taking another, so that leaves me only 2.
How much you wanna make a bet I keep both  ? LOL

well the little kittys are starting to get around now. My dog was sitting in the living room yesterday, and he kept barking, at what I thought was the wall, (he does really do that sometimes, just barks at a wall or something), so I didnt pay any attention to him. After an hour of the barking I went over to see what the heck he was barking at. One of the kitty's came out of the closet to explore it's surroundings, and the dog was scared. He wouldnt come off the couch, just sat there and barked LOL...
I went to Wal-mart and bought one of those playgrounds for toddlers, and I put it in the spare room, with blankets, and a littler box for them. They are just too cute...:D
