Anyone have an at-home Steam Cleaner for your carpet? We are thinking of buying a Hoover SteamVac or really any that comes highly recommended.

We're thinking of buying one too. My in-laws have one and they say it pays for itself the first time you use it. Our carpet is only 2 1/2 years old, and there are so many spots. Dh really wants a hand-held one to use in the cars.

What kind do they have? I was reading consumer reviews and I noticed that the regular steam cleaners are awesome for tile...cleans the grout and everything really well, but dont work well on carpet. I read that the Steam Vac is what works wonderfully on the carpet, but I dont know if it works well on tile. I'd love one that works on both b/c most of our house is tiled (white--YUK), but our staircase, loft area and the bedroom which will one day be baby's room are carpeted and they get so dirty..especially having a cat. You probably have the same dilemma.

:shy: I dunno. Guess I should find out! They buy EVERYTHING at Sears, so maybe it's a kenmore.
That's good to know that some are more geared toward carpet, others tile. Our front entryway is tiled, but that's it. We have carpet and we are going to get hardwoods in our dining room, kitch and downstairs bath. So, I really need something that is great on carpet.

Bissell Quick Steamer Plus..........SUCKS!! Not just sucks, sucks a big fat one! :biglaugh:
It doesn't get up anything. I even use boiling hot water in my cleaner. I hate ours, so if you find a good one, pass the info on to me. Two toddlers, our rugs take a beating. ;)

We have a hoover! It is wonderful. Can't remember the exact name, though.
