We plan on buying our first house in the next year and have started to look and talk to realtor. For those of you who have already been through this process is there anything that you wish you had known before or that someone had told you. I would appreciate any advice.:)

I'd probably recommend you drive around to different neighborhoods to figure out which ones you like the best. And talk with a mortgage broker to figure out what price range you'd qualify for. (If you need a recommendation for a mortgage broker in Austin, let me know)

And start thinking about what features are most important to you in a house (number of bedrooms, size of yard, etc)

If you have any other questions, let me know!

I work in insurance and handle homeowners insurance. I can tell you that can be a bog factor in Texas and Austin right now when it comes to buying a home. When you find a home you like, make sure you know the age of the home and the age of the roof and whether or not there are any claims on the home in the past 3 to 5 years. These are good things to know, anyway, but they’re almost crucial in getting homeowners insurance.

If you have any questions about it, PM me anytime:)
