We definitely do, Tommy works out the household budget and I am in charge, of course, of the food budget! ;)

One thing we do let go by the wayside is our electric bill. Living in South Florida our air is always cranking! ;)

I reckon it's a good idea to teach kids young, even without a budget I manage well, yet my sister and her hubby are hopeless, so to all parents out there teach your kids to budget.

You're so right, Rach! We do budget, but only because I do it. My husband wasn't taught that by his parents, and now it's hard for him to save money.

My sister doesn't know what save means

That's what my Dad did to me. He never taught me to save money, he only instilled in me the feeling of never having to worry about money because I had him. I never realised that one day he would die, and I would have to support myself, and my children, till it happened.
I still dont budget, and I know I should. But I also know I have come a long way from being Daddy's little Princes, and never wanting for nothing, to being self sufficient today.
That really is no excuse for not budgeting. I guess what I mean is, old habits die hard... ;)

True, Suzie. Kudos to you for making it on your own with so little to back you up! Sometimes I wonder if my husband would have been able to do that. He never really had to because his parents supported him through college, and we got married just a year after he graduated. I try to be patient with him because I know he never had to want for anything. His dad is an engineer - they make mucho money - so they never had to budget. Although, I don't believe his parents know how to, either. They've been in trouble a couple of times with credit cards.

Why thank you Margarita..
It has not been easy, but somehow, we make it. Sometimes I wonder what would it be like to not worry about money?? I wonder what that feels like? Well I'll never know that feeling, not the way my spending habits are anyway.

You're welcome. And I hear about about what it'd be like not to have to worry about money. Wouldn't that be nice? Oh well, I shouldn't have married a teacher if I wanted not to worry about money. LOL

Everyone needs to do bills etc. When my gdad passed away he had for 55 years done all the household bills trying to teach a 78 year old women to do bills is hard.

Mark and I both budget but he is mostly in charge of the every day budget and I do the food part and the gas etc. Mark will always leave off the fact that we need to make sure we have enough for gas, food etc. So that is my job to go behind him and find all the mistakes!!
