Last night my kitty, Cali was looking by the side of the fridge with that desire that only a cat can exhibit. I figured she'd seen a bug or something and started looking for it so she could eat it up. Couldn't find it so I left the kitchen. Next thing I know, she's prancing rather proudly out of the kitchen with something in her mouth. I thought at first it was a toy mouse, but wanted to be sure so I followed her and scooped her up about halfway down the hall. Sure enough, it was real. I thought it was dead and reached up my hand to get it from her. Well, she's such a good kitty she decided moomy could have it and dropped the LIVE mousy in my hand. Well I freaked and dropped it which led to a rather exciting night.
Basically we ended up cornering the mouse in a closet and putting all three cats in with it. Shadow, the biggest knocked it around really well and finally it came to rest where I could see it. Poor thing was shaking so badly I decided to rescue it. I took a long walk down the road to set it free in a weedy area far enough away from mine and other houses to help prevent it from coming back in. I'm not against mice per se, they just don't belong in my house. :p
So the question here is what do I need to do to be sure there are no other critters? Obviously the house is getting a good scrub down this weekend to ensure nothing yummy is there to tempt them, but what if they're already there?
