plastic rings around your soda can

Do you cut the plastic rings that hold your soda cans together? I dont buy soda very often, but when I do, I have been doing this for years and I never ever forget. When I was younger I saw pictures of strangled birds and seals that were caused by these plastic rings and since then I always make sure to cut each and every little hole. I might look like a mad woman doing it, but I am doing my part to help save the poor little animals. Hope you do too. And that is my PSA for the day. :D

You should see some of the ones I've cut apart. At one time, I got so over-zealous that I left no piece longer than an inch! :rolleyes: But, yes, when I have the plastic rings, I cut an exit in all of the holes.

if i do buy soda with rings i for sure cut them up... but i dont think i bought any of those in over 2 years hehe

I can't remember the last time I bought soda. But I always cut the plastic rings! It's such a quick thing to do ... and if it saves a life, it's worth every second!

When we have them (rarely), I am one that also goes a little overboard on the cutting. ;) Sometimes, I just cut the whole thing into miniscule pieces.

Yes, didn't those pics break your heart?! :( I haven't bought cans with the plastic for years either. I often go & clean up the beach near our house b'c its just horrible to think of the sealife trying to eat & then choke on some plastic crap that some lazy person threw there :rolleyes: Makes you wonder "what are they thinking throwing trash around like that?!!!" So selfish.

Amazing how one pic can change your behaviour. Thats how the whole vegetarian thing started with me. A simple highschoool report on animal rights & to this day I can't/won't eat meat. Although I still manage to rationalize eating fish. hmmm

Usually the only place I have the opportunity is when we have meetings at work or something....then usually I run them through the shredder!! Saves time and a life!!!
