So what kind of car does everyone have? We are looking for a new one since my lease was up on my SUV. I thought I wanted another SUV, but after test driving a bunch of them and not being happy, I think I am going to go for a car. Does anyone have a Passat? D, was that you who has one or was it a Jetta?

So everyone, what car do you have? Would you recommend it?
Also, what car would you LOVE to have and why?

I have a 4-dr Honda Accord, and I absolutely love it. Of course, it's my first car and I bought it with my own money from my first real job after college so I'm a little biased. But it's been great so far... drives very easy and has plenty of room. Love it, love it, love it! Yes, I would recommend it with the warning that everybody has this car. Every other car you pass will look just like yours, but I don't mind that.

I have a 2001 Jetta with a V6. I also got the sports package, so it handles really nicely (and has snazzy 17" wheels) great Monsoon sound system, and leather interior. I drove it and the BMW 330 and frankly, I like the way the Jetta drove better. I drove the Passat too - I really liked it, but it was a little too big for me. I also drove an Acura - which was nice, but I was looking for something more sporty. My husband is a car fanatic, and he said that VW's are really well built and very safe (it has a great safety rating).
A friend of mine just got the Audi A4 and it ROCKS. Great car. My neighbor has the Lexus sport (I'm not sure what it's called, but it's the 4-door sporty one) and he loves it.

I'm the proud owner of a 99 Black Magic Passat :D
Almost 50,000 miles on it and nothing wrong, well except for the fact that some mean person stole my cool antenna! Just be careful after the first free 25,000 miles of maintenance things get a little pricey.

What I really want is a CJ-5 Jeep in black!!!! Okay in any color :D
Just because they are cool and it would be great to have on my family’s farm

I have a Mazda Tribute... the new sport utility they put out last year. I love it. It has great pick up, which was something I needed since I was getting rid of my red firebird!

Car I'd like - JAG, please!!!

LOL! That is just funny to me because I am actually trying to go for something a little "big" because I'm thinking in baby terms. If you buy a car it is best to keep it for atleast 3 years and in the next 3 years we will have a little one so I wanted to make sure there was room for a baby seat. Most of the SUVs I drove were too big for me because I'm used to driving a small one. I test drove the 3 series BMW also and it was great, but a little too small. :biglaugh:

Deana - You might start a fight :p
My husband drives a 2000 BMW 330ci. While I love VW's, they just don't compare. You can do things in the 330 with the stability control, that you just can't do in the VW's. Now the ride is a bit rough and the handling isn't as smooth. Instead you feel the road with the sports suspension. Anyways both are GREAT cars.

I have a black Jeep Grand Chreokee. I love it!!!! I bought it new in 1998 and I haven't had any problems. It's the perfect size for me and DH. We are also looking to buy a new car at the beginning of next year to replace DH's car. He has a Ford Explorer and we certainly don't need two SUV's. My favorite so far is the Volvo C-60 (Convertible) my husband really likes it as well. Next on our list is the Mustang Convertible.

Red Ford Escape - got it because it has a Taurus engine (I drove a Taurus for 6 years and my mom drove it for 4 with no problems). We also have a silver BMW (3-series). It's nice because it has a sunroof. And we have a motorcycle - but soon that is getting traded in for anew one!

We would like to have an old (maybe 70's) jeep to take advantage of these hot Texas summers!

Well, lets just say the car has saved us in a few bad situations.

I'm really just kidding, they are both wonderful cars! :D

Wow - everyone has really nice cars.

As I said, mine is a Ford Escape. But I drove a '90 Taurus for YEARS! My very first car was a '69 chevy Impala - talk about a boat! My friends LOVED it, though! HA!

I saw this car in Oahu and it looked very cool!

Climb into the Z and you'll climb into a car tailored for performance. Zero to sixty in a blur. A ridiculous 287 hp coupled with 274 lb-ft of torque. Ultra-lightweight aluminum suspension and engine. Carbon-fiber composite driveshaft. Eighteen inch Rays wheels. Massive brake rotors. Slippery undercarriage aerodynamics. Racing inspired driver's seat. Magnesium steering wheel. Even drilled aluminum pedals. It's an obsession for performance that took five years to create, and takes just over five seconds to appreciate.

nerdgirl- Oh, I know! My husband doesn't know how good he has it....or maybe he does! You know what, I think that he had an Impala growing up too. There is a funny pumpkin story that goes along with it. His parents own a foreign autoparts store (long story) which will come in handy when our cars start getting older

I drive a '96 Mercury Sable. It's a pretty good car...has served me well. But it's a Ford. 'Nuff said. No really, it's a decent car, handles well, hasn't had any major breakdowns (yet, knock on wood). We're hoping to get rid of it in the next year though...before she starts to nickle and dime us with little repairs.

My husband is a Cadillac freak and has a '93 STS. He loves it. It's a good solid car, It's getting older...but in great shape. We'll probably hang on to it for a few years.

We also have an older '89 Chevy 4x4...it's parked right now though...needs a water pump. In perfect condition, and we plan to hang onto it for several years. (My husband has this thing with vehicles...safety in numbers is the family motto...his parents have I don't know how many vehicles...all of varying run-ability. They have an old 'burb they use for plowing...and another old 'burb that doesn't run, but they keep for parts cuz it's damn near impossible to get parts for the running 'burb (which is older than I am.)

Anywho...my dream car(s): A Saab 900 turbo, black convertible. Droooll. I've wanted one since I was in 5th grade. My sister has a 900 turbo (not a convertible though) and while it is one hell of a good car...runs fab, handles great, etc...I was surprised how small it is. My husband is a "bigger is better" sorta guy...he'd have me driving a tank if possible. So I guess I've gotten used to larger vehicles and the Saab was small to me. I sure wouldn't say no to one though!!

And my other dream: A mercedes of any sort. I'm not all that picky! Used to drive my boss' quite frequently...loved that car. It was older (and this was a number of years ago) I think it was probably a late '80's model. Felt like a tank! But man I looked good in it! :biglaugh:

C, I had an older Passat and I loved it! It was 6 years old and I needed a new car, but it drove great! I also loved my Maxima, perfect size and so "luxurious"...and my friend Angel had a Diamante which I drove a few times, I loved it. ;)

i just bought a 2003 silver toyota corolla. my family has had toyotas for years and i guess i kind of just stuck with it. they've never given us any major problems and are all-around good cars. my last car was a 1995 red toyota corolla, and i planned on driving it into the ground before some IDIOT rear-ended me and totalled my car.

in all my car shopping, i was told by several people that hondas and toyotas are both very good makes to get.

I drive a '99 Isuzu Rodeo... completely loaded to the max. I haven't had a single mechanical problem with it yet (knock on wood), but I certainly wish I had something much more economical now!

It will likely be quite a while before either DH or I get another vehicle, since I'm not working at all right now... :( Although, it's soooooo awesome to not be making any car payments right now! In fact, neither DH nor I have made any car payments since 2000 (when I sold my house, I made a VERY nice profit and paid off my SUV).

I DEFINITELY would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to have that new 350Z that someone posted a picture of, but now that we've started a family it just doesn't make a lot of sense for us to be looking at sports cars anymore. Darn... *sigh*

My neighbor recently bought a Toyota Camry (completely loaded) and I think that would be a great, economical family car. She really likes it a lot... plus, it kind of resembles a Lexus in many ways (I guess because Toyota manufactures the Lexus line, as well).

That is a great looking car! When we start a family, our (rather, my husband's - it's his baby) Porsche will most likely be "going away" too. We have 3 vehicles right now and it would be silly (and expensive) to keep all three when I stop working.

Funny D....we are going to trade in our (rather my husband's--it's his baby) ;) corvette to get my new car for the same reasons as you guys, it's just silly and expensive to have 3 cars right now. Just completely unnecessary. Not to mention I can't even drive it. I can only do automatic.

We have 3 vehicles, too.
I have a red Chevy Camaro and he has a Chevy S-10 (super charged, extended cab), and he also has his company vehicle which is a Jeep Cherokee.
We're looking into a new vehicle for me within the next few months, too. I'm just sick and tired of my car. I want something four door!
