Janis (our black lab) is having a strange lump removed from her abdominal area right now. Please send her some good vibes. :dog: She has had seizures in the past, so we're feeling pretty nervous that she's under anesthesia. I'll post her prognosis, they should be calling between 1 & 3 this afternoon. poor girl

Alright, I'm back... JUST FATTY DEPOSITS :D :dog: :D

isn't that the greatest news it could be????!!!! :D we had her spayed & they finally removed a broken tooth that they'd put off until we had an emergency or needed anesthesia for an additional reason (b'c of seizuring risk)

they decided to keep her overnight b'c she just gets so overly happy when she sees us (they know from past vet visits) that we didn't want to take the chance of damaging anything. Plus tomorrow they'll have a ramp available for us to help get her into the back of the Explorer... she usually jumps. So, I just took her her dog (stuffed dog, she drags it to her bed at night) & left a check, but I didn't get to see her :( didn't want to get her hopes up, yk?

She comes home tomorrow, one tooth & one organ lighter ;) We all thank you for the luck & good thoughts

& they're not charging for her stay either - they all love "little janis" - finally found a GREAT VET... AUSSIE ANIMAL HOSPITAL on ARTHUR GODFREY BLVD, MIAMI BEACH

What a relief. I was hoping it would only be a fatty deposit and nothing major.

I bet you can't wait to see Janis again today. Something tells me a doggie in Miami is going to be getting lots of spoiling from her owners this afternoon!!

Oh Veda, I am so happy Janis only had fatty deposits. I know how scary it can be.
I hope her recovery goes well. ;)

aww, you guys are gorgeous :)

Yup... she's definitely getting some lovin'. We're postponing our party until next weekend b'c she's too crazy around people, so tonight it's us three, at home with some scary movies & a seafood dinner that I'm making... sooo cool to have an appropriate kitchen :D

anyone have any suggestions on caring for a huge just-spayed dog? (sorry, not too pretty to think about, but we've never done this before)

:D :dog: :D

You won't have to do anything to her. If the stitches dont dissolve then you will bring her back in two weeks. She just needs to not jump and take it easy for a few days. Good luck in this though! lol! All of mine where fine the next day. Oh yeah try to make sure she doesnt lick the stitches. I am glad she is doing good!

My lab is a boy, and I know that neutering isn't as abrasive as spaying, but I was surprised at how fast he recovered. Our vet kept him overnight too, and when he came home he slept more than usual... but he was soooo excited to see us. All his excitement worried me! didn't want him to hurt his stitches... but he was fine. I worry too much...;)

(Oh, and we gave him a BIG steak since he was such a super trooper!!)
