I am a single parent of 2 kids and I recently became single after dating the same person for 13 years. Does anyone ever think...."where do I start now?" or "will I ever find Mr. Right?".

Welcome to HT.

I used to think that after many years of being in bad relationships that didn't last. Finally I decided that I wasn't going to waste my time and energy in men anymore. I turned everything over to God and began to have a relationship with Him. Because He loved me so much and He knew what I wanted in a man, He sent just the man who was created for me to be my husband.

All I can tell you is don't go looking for Mr. Right because nine times out of ten, you will find Mr. Wrong. The only way I can encourage you is to tell you that you can take this free time to work on healing yourself and spending time with your kids. If nothing else good comes from not having Mr. Right at this time, the joy of having all that time for just them will reward your kids.

Yes, yes, yes. I feel that way pretty much all the time.

I was married right out of HS for almost 8years. I have been divorced 3 1/2 with an 8y.o son and have 2 very serious relationships since. I am still good friends with one of them and speak to the other when and if we happen to bump into one another.
I wonder if there really *is* someone out there for me. Sometimes I get lonely, scared, and mad. Seems like everyone else can find someone, but me. Then I look around me and see that many of those couples are miserable and/or deceiving the other and am happy to be alone. I have noone to answer to and don't have to listen to constant bitching and whining. That's a + :D

Good luck gurlie. I know how you feel. I think we are suppose to meet some wrong ones so we'll know when we meet the right one. Just take it one day at a time, keep yourself busy, and when the time is right love will walk thru the door.

I totally agree with you. I know that I need to spend this quality time with my kids. I am not going out looking for "MR. RIGHT" It will just happen.

I have been keeping busy with my kids, work and I am also going to the temple. I am jewish but not religious. I go because I do have faith in G_d!! But my main reason of going to the temple is because it makes my kids and I feel good and the people there are all about family and that is what is important to me.

It sounds like you know exactly how I feel. The single life is nice when it comes to not answering to someone and all that but I get to the point when i feel like most other women in my situation...."is someone out there for me?" Well, maybe it is true....all these "bad seed" relationships we all have experienced is only giving us examples of what we DO NOT want.

Here's to us finding the Mr. Right and getting everything we want out of a relationship.

I also noticed that you work in Radiology. So do I!! I am not a tech, though. I work as a medical secretary in MRI/CT. Our company has MANY offices in Sacramento and the surrounding areas. I love my job! Now, how many people can say that?

I *love* the field of Radiology but the place where I work, OMG you wouldn't believe the horror stories if I told ya :p That so-called hospital is the worst place on the planet to work, or even visit! I often refer to it as the pits of he** or the septic tank :D

I'm glad you love your job! You're right, not many ppl can say that! Radiology is a good field and one that is completely rewarding if you find the right place to work.

By the way.....this board and all these girls are wonderful. They're my therapists :D I found most of them by planning a wedding to my first serious relationship after the divorce. One that ended in a complete disaster. They picked my broken heart up, dusted it off, and handed back to me. If it weren't for them I would have went over the edge. Any time you need anything.......we're all here. Post a thread or send one of us a PM. :)

After 2 marriages and 2 children, I didn't think I could find my Mr. Right. But I did!!!!! I found him on Matchmaker.com. If you haven't tried it out yet, give a free two week trial. I met some really nice decent and FUN guys!

Melissa, you can also try www.jdate.com, it's for Jewish singles and I know quite a few people who have met their match this way. :)

Thanks to everyone for the good suggestions and the positive comments. I might try them. But when you did that....weren't you a little nervous about meeting someone from online? I know 2 people that met and one in married and the other is engaged. So I know that it can work.

To Krysti....maybe you should come out to California. The company I work for is AWESOME. I have worked there for 6 years.

Yes, I was a little nervous ... but I had met people from the internet before in real life so I knew not everyone is weird who meets through the internet. I would email back and forth with a guy for a week or so getting to know him and find out where he lived and his full name. I would then get all the information to a good friend. And I would meet the guy at a very public place usually a restaurant like Bennigan's or Chili's. Also, letting my friend know where we were meeting. Usually the next 2 dates we would still "meet" again. Then I may tell him where I lived. I think I was very cautious.

Good luck to you! Hope you decide to try it out! I've managed to keep 2 guys as friends too. :)

I'm not a single mom or anything, but I wanted to say that Miss Ryry has some very good tips for dating people you meet online (well, for people you meet anywhere really). I look at it as no worse than picking up a stranger in a bar, only you have a computer screen obscuring your view of them instead of a dark room. :p

Krysti...

I tried the ones you mentioned. I like romanticplanet.com, & matchtrust.com. I DO NOT LIKE......matchmaker.com at all!!

One that you can try is eharmony.com. That is the best one so far!!

Here's to searching for that Mr. Right who must be somewhere out there

I'll drink to that :toast:

If you don't already have a Yahoo profile getting one would be a great way to meet guys. Guys are always PMing me while I'm online. Most of them are freaks, but I have maintained a few chat friends that I have met that way. I happend upon one guy a few months ago that is good friends with a girl I went to x-ray school with. We're planning on meeting one day, gathering up a bunch of friends and going out.
Good luck in your hunt for happiness! Keep us updated on how it's going!

I understand how you feel. I was with my daughters father for 9 years and I finally realized that I could not compete with him and his love to "mess around" on me. Not to mention, he was not a real father to his daughter. I always wonder if it is too late for me to find someone, or if I will live the rest of my life alone.

You'll find someone  it just takes time, patience, trial and error. I noticed thru my dating days that the guys that want to be settled down, already are......to someone else. The guys that weren't, didn't want to be. Just when all feels lost, someone wonderful pops up. Good luck and I wish you the best.
