How does one go about finding someone who doesn't want to be found? I've tried credit checks, different "missing persons" agencies, etc... and all were dead ends.

Has anyone else ever had to find someone who didn't want to be found? If so... what happened?

I have a general idea of what state to look in, but that could have changed since he was seen there a few years ago. I'm out of ideas, so if anyone has any, I would be thankful! :D

maybe you can try this:

Net Detective.

I don't know anything about it. Just saw it on the net.

If you had his Social Security Number someone would able to find hime for you. Everyone has one.

Good Luck

Thanks Country!

I actually looked into that site before. The problem is, I already know all (most) of the information that they give you :( It's been a real pain in my back side, let me tell ya.

I have two SS#'s for him, one real and the other obviously stolen, and I had found the second one years and years ago, so we assume he may be using another one by now. From his eyes, it would be the smart thing to do... you can trace anyone with a SS#, and that is how so many people are found. The man isn't stupid, at least not in that sense, lol.

It's been over 20 years since I have seen him, or even talked to him, or had a letter from him. I've recently learned A LOT of new information about him, and it's given me new insight as to why he may have left - and I can actually be thankful that he did, as odd as that sounds. I'm still angry, and still hurt, but I have learned that I actually forgive him, which was a real shocker to me! lol.

I still want to find him, but for different reasons now. I want him to be able to come home, so that he can quit running and have a real life, before it's to late for him to do so. I always know when I'm on the right track, because all of the address's will be fake - but that doesn't help any, lol. Oh well!

My hubby recently tracked down his father after 22 years. He is at work right now but let me talk to him when he gets home and find out the details of the priva6te investigator he used. I know he didn't have much info to work with but the PI tracked him down within a few hours and the whole thing only cost $100.

Thanks scully, that would be great!

Hubby and I have decided that we might end up using a PI, instead of a tracking agency. With someone who doesn't want to be found, the usual routes of looking are pretty much dead ends.

Farmgirl,
Try the Morman church, they have the best library for people in the US. Use the 2 SSN's and see if they can track him down. It will be cheaper than a PI.

Just out of curiosity, why do the Mormons have a "library for people?" What do people's records/whereabouts have to do with religion? I don't get the connection.

I'm pretty good at finding missing people, assuming that they are not on the lam from the law. I have found people whom I knew only by their first names from 50 years ago. Send me your father's name and the his last known state or residence and I'll see what I can do. There is no charge for my services.

Thanks for your offer to help :)

I've used all of the normal means of tracking a missing person (been at this for several years), and I have even tried a detective with no luck. He does not wish to be found, and so I've decided to honor that wish - at least for the time being.

Thanks again for the offer!

Jana,
I'll tell you if you really want to know but it will take a whole new thread. I'll start it in the religion section.
