For those of you who have wood floors, what do you use to clean them? I've done the dusting spray with a dust mop, but to really clean them, I feel like I need something more. So, waddya all use?

I use the Swiffer Wet pads (not the WetJet...just the damp pads).

DH uses some good smelling stuff that orangey looking (can you tell I don't clean the floors ). I think it's Murphy's, but I'm not sure.
We have hard wood floors in everyroom of our house except the kitchen and bathroom. We use the Swiffer Wets about every other day (because we have two dogs in the house and there's lots of hair). On the weekends we have a Hoover Floormate (I think that's what it's called) Anyway it's like a vacuum, but it dispensed liquid onto the floor and then sucks it up. We use Murphy's oil soap in it. We also used Murphy's oil when we were just using a wet mop.

I clean mine with a solution of 1/3 water, 1/3 white vinegar, 1/3 rubbing alcohol. Then shine them with 1/3 vinegar, 2/3 olive oil from a spray bottle. They look BEAUTIFUL. I use this on my antique furniture too.

I use the Swiffer wet too...just the pads, not the one with the solution...its fast, easy and makes the floors shine!

Nisha - I have an older house with the original wood floors thoughout! When I had the first section of floor refinished and sealed with poly I asked the guy what to clean them with if they got REALLY dirty. (I knew I was going to be doing some more remodeling and they floors would get tracked on partially no matter how much I covered them.)
He recommended warm water and vinegar with a really well wrung out mop. He said that's all anyone really needs to clean them with. The last section I got finished they said the same thing - but added that it's SUPER important to DRY THE FLOORS. The only way I've found to do this thoroughly with NO spots at all is on my hands and knees with a towel.
(If anyone knows of a better way, tell me because I've got a big house with LOTS of wood!)

Dorie, if you use alcohol in your solution then it will dry quite quickly on its own, without any spots. 1/3 alcohol, 1/3 vinegar, 1/3 water is what I use and it works quite well.
Best of luck,
Stacey
