I am kind of hurt by my sister. I have not spoke with her in about a week or so and I really don't want to call her anymore right now because, it is long distance and it seems as though she never calls me. Well, as some of you may know my son may have Asperger's and I need all the support and information and hugs I can get. I called to let her know what was going on with my son and she said "oh, the whole world is autistic, why do you think your son has to have something wrong with him?". I was hurt. I don't think my son has to have something wrong with him and as any loving mother I want the best for my children.

Why is it that she can be so cold? Ugh!
:(

I don't know what to say about your sister's attitude, maybe you should try talking to her again.
I have a 7 month old with Down Syndrome and my nephew has autism. One thing I know is that my brother and I certainly didn't ask for something to be wrong with our children. For her to say that, is pretty harsh! Let her know how hurt you are by her words, I'd be flabbergasted if any of my family said something like that about my daughter.

I feel it takes a special person to raise children that some people think are different. I have a customer(I cut Hair) that has Down's . She is the sweetest girl. Every time she comes in the salon she runs back to my chair throws her arms around me and gives me a kiss. I love it.
She only stands just under 4 ft and is 18 yrs old. Mentally she is about 5-7. I hope that your sister will support you but if she doesn't than she will miss out on a relationship with a child that would love her unconditionally. ;)

This is so true! Have you talked to your sister at all Tracey?
