Who's incharge of bill paying in your family?

Who takes care of sending out the bills each month? Do you use a database like Quicken (http://www.purchase-electronics.com/store.cgi?input_string=quicken&input_mode=software&submit=Search) or Quickbooks (http://www.purchase-electronics.com/store.cgi?input_string=quickbooks&input_mode=software&submit=Search)? Do you use automatic bill pay for anything?

Sort of both of us, but mostly me right now. Actually we use automatic bill pay for all but I think two bills so it's really the bank. :) I'm the one who checks to be sure everything is still running alright.

Both of us get a little flaky about getting bills in on time, so that's why we use the automatic thing. Plus, now I only write maybe one check every month or sometimes every two months.

We use mostly automatic bill payment and DH keeps track of everything with Quicken. I still use the old way for my own personal checking account.

I am in charge of paying the bills. I do it the old fashioned way with my checkbook. I do have three payments that automatically come from the checking account each month.
I also pay all the bills at the restaurant. I use Quickbooks for the bills and payroll. I love that program. I tried to use it at home, but my bills are very simple and I really didn't need it.

I pay all of the bills, and we only use automatic payment for our internet service. And that's not by choice. I'm just not comfortable with autopay yet...

We both discuss before making payments on bills, but it's usually Michael who does the actual payment. We pay through online banking, it's just so much easier. I don't know how I did it before online/telephone banking came into existence!

I pay the bills. We have a few that are automatic and dh is in charge of paying the credit cards over the internet. Everything else I write checks for.

I do it all at my house...when we got married DH said he didn't want anything to do with a checkbook and just goes by the bank to deposit his check and lets me do with it as necessary! I have one bill automatically taken out of the acct. and I pay a few online, but mostly I just mail them back in!

I do. Two are billed to our credit card every month, and the rest I pay with checks. I like having that control so I don't have to worry about keeping money in the checking account. I'd rather it be in savings where we earn more interest. I track everything with Creative Solutions accounting software. It's a high-end program, and I only use it because that's what my parents use (and I work for them).

Hubby does all the bill paying. I have a bad habit of forgeting to write things down, and then things get screwed up, lol.

But, I do make the budget - he is horrible about spending! If he sees something he likes, he buys it, and it doesn't matter the cost. I'm the opposite, I see something and think - can we afford that? And 85% of the time I pass on the thing, even if we can afford it. It drives me nuts! He's always saying things like "we need to buy a new monitor for the pc" when we have plenty of them! But they're not big enough he says... the smallest is a 17inch! Thats not small. He drives me nuts with the spening! Grrr! lol

I do. We both have direct deposit from work, and I use MS Money to balance our accounts. We have 3 or 4 bills that go right onto dh's AMEX, but other than that, I use our checkbook.

He manages all of our stocks and such - I'm clueless when it comes to that.

Deana....my dh does that too. He handles all of our investments which I don't know much about. I put my trust in him when it comes to things like that.

Deana and Kristen, yeah....same here. :) DH takes care of all the investments and I'm in charge of all the household bills. We have a few on automatic payment, but most of them I still write checks for. We are going to get Quickbooks so I can start keeping track more carefully. I'm actually excited about this. I like being organized when it comes to certain things. lol
