Who here rents and who owns? What type of "house" do you live in? Apartment, condo, townhouse, house, etc...and how long have you lived there?

I answered for my parents, since I still depend on them.
We own a house, well, it is a flat. We have lived there since February :)... I should say they, because now I am in Madrid but anyway, classes will be finished soon :D

We own(well the mortgage company and us own) our house. We have lived here for 7 years(8 in August). My house is a doublewide that is set on a full basement. So it looks more like a ranch style.Works for us....

We own a 3 bedroom ranch. The house across the street from us was up for rent. They wanted $100 less per month than our house payment. Sorry if I'm going to pay that kind of $$ I better be able to do whatever I want (within the city codes anyway).

We own a portion of it... the mortgage company owns the rest. We're still trying to figure out which parts are "ours". Ha, ha! It's a one-story 3/2 in a quiet sub-urban neighborhood, and we've lived there for 1.5 years now.

We own two places. Our primary residence is a 3 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath two story house that we have lived in for about 3 1/2 months. It has a seperate 1000 sq. ft. guest house on the other side of the yard that my dad lives in. The other is a two story townhouse with 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths that I inherited from my aunt a little over a year ago. We have never lived there and I am unsure of what to do with the place.

We owne a 4 bedroom 2 bathroom one story in a master planned community on the lake. We have been living in it for 6 months. We love it here and don't know how we ever rented.

I own my home in full (Thank God) .. I couldn't make house payments anymore if I had too ! Going to college full time and working P/T makes a poor person out of you fast !

Do you have to make payments or is it payed for in full? One idea is to rent it out and you will have cashflow coming in every month. It's a great way to make extra income. If you don't like the idea of being a landlord, there are maintenance companies you can hire for a (somewhat minimal) fee each month to take care of everything for you.
we just moved (like a week ago) into our home that we are buying! Four bedroom ranch house with a two car fully heated garage. So far we are lovin it!!

It is paid in full and we had a tenant for 9 months, but she moved because of a job transfer and we have been doing our homework on the area since then. The condo is located in a very desirable subdivision and property there always sells for the asking price or higher, so we are probably going to sell it, but to do that we need to replace all of the flooring and possibly remodel one of the bathrooms. The problem has been finding someone to do the work in the time frame we want and getting a written estimate.

Hey C! Good question -- although you know most all there is to know about our house!
We moved in almost 7 months ago and right now the bank still owns most of it!

We own our house... it's our first one, but we've been here, goodness, 12 years I guess! It's a ranch on just over an acre with big trees in an older neighborhood. We just remodeled and added on so I now have tripled the size of our bedroom and bath and have a 10'x10' walk in closet. It's in a great area, but I would still like to get further out of town on about 3-5 acres. But, where we are now, there's about 100 acres of woods behind us where no one can build so it's really nice. We get deer, racoons, coyotes, turkeys, turtles, owls, all sorts of stuff, but we are not in the country! It's great and the neighbors are wonderful! (Sorry, you didn't really ask for all that did you?!)

We own our own home and have been mortgage free for the past 5 years (wheeee)! It is a single family, 2-story home.
