When we first moved into our house over 2 years ago, the previous owners had glued styrafoam numbers to the wall next to our front door. On the foam, they then glued dried flowers and umm moss? maybe or twigs? I'm not sure what to call it or how to explain it exactly, but let's just say it was fugly and definitely not mine and DH's style so we tried to remove it. We ripped off the styrafoam and got as much of the twigs, etc. off as we could, but there is still a lot of glue stuck to the entrance wall. I have no clue how to remove it. Any ideas on how I can get this crap off without ruining the paint?

Try some cheap cotton and a hot iron. Place the cotton over the glue, then iron the cotton - it should help melt the glue into the cotton. Just be sure to use a clean piece everytime, or you'll just end up spreading it (I did it once with candle wax, talk about feeling like an idiot).

Interesting idea, but I don't have an outdoor outlet near my front door so not sure how this would work.

Maybe an extension cord? ;)

:dunce: doh
really though, I can't see myself wrapping an iron chord around the door or under the door? and ironing a wall. sounds crazy, but ya know what.....if you think it really will work, I guess I will give it a try. thanks for the suggestion.

Have you tried that goo-gone stuff? Or how about mineral spirits (that might not work)? Wallpaper paste remover? I don't know.
Maybe try goo-gone first, and see how that helps. Goo-gone is pretty great, removes everything.

The goo-gone may take the paint off, but it will remove the glue! The iron should work, but if it doesn't and you don't want to try the goo-gone, maybe just nail polish remover? Might be worth a try before the industrial goo-gone method!:D

I was going to say Goof Off or Goo Be Gone too.

I recently read how good WD 40 is at removing sticky things, so you may try that. If they have a web site, I bet they will tell you the many uses of their product.
