Hi,
I'm Tana -- I've already posted quite a bit of things in different areas. I just want to let everyone know that I LOVE to chat and read emails, etc. If you need to VENT, then know that I am a good ear!! I have no family, other than my husband and kids (some step family) but no parents. I moved to CO from CA and never have had the chance to meet many people. I'm laid up a lot with a bad back, some stomach problems, etc. I'm 39 and very open about everything. I can talk about anything. I may have an opinion that you won't agree with (which has happened already lol!) but I always like different perspective and if I'm wrong, I will have no problem saying so.
I'm grateful for this forum, so far, and hope that I can meet some good "penpals!"
Thanks to everyone who has responded and replied already.
:D
Welcome to HT! Looking forward to getting to know you. How many kids do you have? How old are they? We love kid photos here, btw, if you're okay with that. :D
How do you pronounce your name? Does it rhyme with banana (like mine) or iguana or rain-a? :P

That's so funny, because all through school, I was known as "Tana Banana." I was named after the state "Montana."
I have two kids: My daughter Alexandra just turned 13 in May -- She is definitely my pride. Omg, my mom always said that I would be paid back 10-fold...I wish she was around to say, "I told you so." She is so beautiful (I'm white and her dad is Mexican & puerto rican) I'm biased she is gorgeous! I'll have to figure out how to do the pictures and show you all. The camera just loves her and she is a total natural at posing, but she says she wants to be the photographer (like me!) instead of modeling. I'm the type of parent that I will support ANYTHING they want to do.
My son Noah just turned 9...he is definitely my JOY! He is so kind hearted and sweet, and his comprehension is so high, it's like talking to an adult. He has a bit of trouble with reading and writing and is dyslexic (spelling?). Teachers have always told me that he is ADHD, and has suggested medicine. I've always refused...and as he gets older, he is more focused. I just don't think he has ADD or ADHD -- he sound more like the "Edison trait."
Anyway, we live in CO, but they visit their dad in CA every few months. My husband now has been with them since my son was 1 1/2 and my daughter 5yrs. They call him dad and they have a step-mom too, who they call "mom." That's a bit difficult, but at least she treats them well. My son comes home Monday...I can't wait to see him. My daughter won't be back until Aug. 9th. I miss her already too.
It's unfortunate that we are a split family...but I believe they are getting the best of both worlds. I couldn't have asked for a better father than my husband now. He takes care of them as if they are his own..."NO" is never in his words to them lol! We're fortunate that he makes a good living and keeps us in the lifestyle that we're now used to. Gosh, if I were a single mom trying to raise two kids in CA, they wouldn't have half the opportunities as they do now...including all the extra love that they get!
I'm sorry, I'm rabbling on...I get so lonely for some good "girl-talk."
Thanks for asking...what about you guys...any kids, pets, husbands? lol!! Where do you all live?
Talk to you soon,
RedBedHead

ok, so now we have a Tana-banana and a Jana-banana. :p
Did you get the PM I sent you with the link to info on how to do all the pictures, smilies, and other forum info?
Here's my formal intro, I guess. :-) I'm 27 and live in Florida. My wonderful husband and I are coming up on our 4 year wedding anniversary in a few months and we've been together for almost 9 years. We have one furry child, our cat Janny, who has been with us since day 1. We love her to death. No kids of the human variety just yet, but we definitely want them. We love travelling and are trying to get it out of our system as much as possible beforehand, but everytime we go somewhere we say "ok, let's just take ONE more......". ;)
Nice to meet you! :) Your kids sound great, and we'll all be waiting patiently for you to get the photo thing figured out!
We have quite a diverse bunch here. Some are married, some have kids, some are trying to conceive, and some are single. Some are any combination of the above. ;)
As for me, I've been married for about 2 and a half years, and we're expecting our first kiddo around the end of the year. No pets at the moment (hey, how about you?), but we'd really love to have one/some.
There's plenty to read and talk about here, so since you said you love to chat and read email, you'll fit in fine! I see you've jumped right in & made yourself at home; that's the best way to get to know us!

I know exactly what you mean. My husband has his small plane pilot's license (not that I would ever go) and he loves to travel -- he's lived abroad and has gone tons of places. However, I don't fly -- I'm extremely afraid of it...which is a bummer for him, because he is dying to go on vacation. The poor guy deserves it too, he works so much. I've got to some how get over my fear.
My kids have to fly all the time, and that freaks me out too. Gosh, I never used to have phobias like this. We still haven't had a honeymoon yet. I keep coming up with excuses lol! My friends think I'm crazy...they would love to be able to pick a place and go. Not me, I would rather pick some where to drive lol!
What do you do for a living? It's pretty cool how you and your husband has started this forum. I met my husband in a AOL chat room in 1995, so I believe in this kind of forum to meet people!
Do you guys plan to have kids in the near future? It's hard work, that's for sure...we've been kidless for the last two weeks and it is a nice little break. After two weeks, I start really missing them. It's weird how different he and I interact when we're alone. We actually have time to talk!!!
Talk to you soon,

Beautiful family Tana. I forgot to introduce myself last night so here goes.
I am a 26 year old stay at home mom/student. My husband and I will be celebrating our 6th anniversary in August. Our son, Noah (great name huh?) just turned 5 last week and will start school in August (which is something I am dreading).
I will be finishing school in December with a Bachelor's in English and have no clue what I want to do then.
We are thinking of concieving (TOC) sometime this year but it keeps getting put off (just a bit longer).
We recently sold our home and it closed before we had somewhere to live so technically, I'm homeless, but I have great parents who own a home in the town that we live in. They do not reside here so they said, borrow it until you find something. I don't think that they knew what they were getting themselves into!! We have decided that instead of trying to find the perfect home, we're going to build it. Unfortunatly, the land that we want to build on will not be available until after the cotton harvest so we have to wait until October.
Anyway, hubby is pushing me away from the computer because he just finished cooking breakfast but I'm sure we'll learn alot more about each other on the boards.
Again, it's nice to have you here!

Believe it or not, I hate flying too. But somehow (lately by popping a zanax before the flight) I get over it or I just deal with it b/c the love for travelling overcomes the fear. There's nothing that compares to the feeling of being completely free from everyday responsibilites and out of your "comfort zone", exploring something new and exciting together. :)
What do you do for a living? It's pretty cool how you and your husband has started this forum. Thanks! Well, I got my real estate license last year....mainly b/c we wanted to get into RE investing...and now I am trying to sell a property. I also own a stationary/invitation business.....people come to my house for wedding invitations, birth announcements, baby showers, etc. I enjoy it b/c it's always about a happy occasion. Also, I am co-owner of a fairly new senior relocation business (which is usually never a happy occasion, but it feels good to help these people!). We're about 3-4 months in now. I know it seems like a ton, but what's great is that I am my own boss so everything is really flexible. Sometimes I am up to my eyeballs with work, but at other times, I have nothing (business-wise) to do for days at a time. That's why you'll probably see me on here a lot for a few days and then I'll be MIA for a few. ;)
Do you guys plan to have kids in the near future? That's yet to be decided! ;) Actually, probably yes....within the next year or so, but I'll let it be known that I've been saying that for the past 3 years! :biglaugh:
BTW, I looked at your pictures and you have a very beautiful family!!

Wow Tana! You have a beautiful family! and that includes you! Welcome again and I'm sorry I didn't see this before now! I'm still sort of new here too. I'm 42, married to my husband for 16 years and it's the only marriage for us both. We met through friends but at a nightclub of all things! where I used to go dancing with friends and he did security! We don't have any children although we would love to have them --- I found out several years ago that we would have to do invitro because my tubes are completely knotted on one side. The doctors don't know what caused it but even with surgery to correct it the chances of normal conception would still be less than 50/50 because of my age (that stupid "age" thing again!)
Anyway, we have two chocolate labs, a boy and a girl, and one girl kitty cat, and various wildlife around the house - I'm an animal nut! I ride motorcycles, scuba dive, skeet shoot, landscape, interior decorate, draw and paint, oh, and my husband flies both planes and helicopters! I had to travel a lot for my former job and I don't really like to fly either unless my husband is at the controls, but I found that because I HAD to, that if I mentally prepared myself for it, I was fine. But I only do small planes with my husband - I'm extremely claustrophobic!
Gosh, I've probably bored you too death so that's enough about me! It's nice to get to know you better! Talk to you again soon!

Welcome (better late than never).
Neither my hubby or I have ever flown & neither of us have a desire to. Everywhere we go, we drive (even if that means 13 hours in the truck). Thankfully mostly where we go we go for racing (my hubby drag races a Ford Lightning) so we have to drive so we can bring the trailer with the race truck.
We never got our honeymoon either. We knew where we wanted to go (Gaitlanburg/Pigeon Forge, TN) but didn't make any reservations since it was possible hubby was going to get into Ford. We knew that if he got into Ford he wouldn't be able to take time off that quick. Good thing we planned it that way anyways since he did get into Ford a month before our wedding. So we got married & both went back to work on Monday. We still plan to take our honeymoon but we got into racing the first year we were married so all of our vacation time gets used by that.
BTW, we've been married 4 yrs, were together for 6 before that. We have a 2 year old daughter (Veronica) & our second on the way (due July 27). We also have a furrbaby. He is Winston McDuff III. An 8 year old English Bulldog who I got from family friends when he was 9 months old (they did fly alot & thought it wasn't fair to board him so often).

Hi Tana,
you have a great family.
I am also new to this website. I am single but have a boyfriend. We have been together for almost 4 years. I am 24 years old. I am a student and I also work full time. It is hard to do both but I find ways to manage it.
I am so glad I found this site. I think is great to meet new people.
Have a great day,
:)

ladybugks -- Wow, what a nice compliment -- thank you very much!
What are you going to school for? Are you and your boyfriend talking marriage yet? Do you plan on having kids?
Gosh...to be 24 again and know what I know now...what a blessing that would be. I would do so many things differently, like go to college. I dropped out in the 10th grade (1983), because that's when my mom got cancer...but in 1998, when I moved to CO, I took my GED and passed in the top third percent of the country...boy, was I ever amazed! I then went to photography school. I LOVE school now...as I've gotten older, I just love to learn about everything.
I'm glad too that there is this webside. Lots of nice people on here. Hope to see you around and chat more.
rdy2rac -- So, are you guys still planning your honeymoon? We got married May 27, 2000 (now, 8-years together) and we still haven't gone, lol! Work, work, work! I moved out to CO in '98 and a couple months later, my husband got the results that he had passed the bar (legal bar, lol) and the next day, rented an office and opened up his own law firm. Poor guy, a couple of months after that, in December, I had to have major back surgery. Here he is, running his own law firm...fresh out of law school, all of a sudden, he is a dad of two and has a (common law) wife, laid up for 6 months. What a man! He's the type of guy, though, that makes everything happen...it trips me out. If there was ever someone who needed to believe in the "power of the mind" they would just have to be around him for a few months and become a believer -- I wish some of it would rub off on me! He's an optimist and I'm a pessamist (sp?)
How SO awesome that you have a baby on the way -- congrats!! I bet you have your hands full with a two year old, too? I want another baby so bad...especially with my hubby, since we do not have any between us. But, the reality is slipping away, since now I've lost half my equipment and I'm pushing 40. We got pregnant in 2001, but had a miscarriage (due to ovary exploding).
So, what's racing like....do you get nervous watching your husband? Do you race too? Or, have you driven in his racecar? My husband was a mechanic for 12 years (before law school). He LOVES racecars and classic cars. I think I uploaded a pic of his ferrari? He also has a '61 corvet that he plans on fixing up and a '62 (I think) ford fairlane - super charge engine. He also put in a super charger in our SUV...now it sounds like an airplane taking off!
I'm with you on the flying...I just don't like it. I drive everywhere, so now we've put in the DVD/VCR in our SUV with the screens behind the headrest -- boy, that makes for peaceful driving with the kids! Do you race all over the country?
I know this is long, but I'm not sure how to answer everyone! I'll end this and answer the other in another note (tell me if I'm doing this wrong?)
Keep in touch!

Photobrat, thank you for answering.
I go to school for International Business. I am originally from Venezuela so I speak Spanish, knowing another language makes it easier for my major.
Yes, my boyfriend and I talk about marriage sometimes (as far as what we want) but I am not ready yet (neither is he). I just feel that I am still young and I would like to finish my degree before. I am very independent so I want to stay like this for a while.
Kids?? I am not sure. So far I don't want any. I love kids (I have beautiful nieces & nephews) and I am their favorite auntie but I don't feel like having my own. Everybody keeps telling me that it will change soon.
I am sorry to hear about your miscarriage. My sister had one and was extremely hard for all of us.
Talk to you soon,

Tana, we're not far off from you. We were married April 49, 2000. I still plan for a honeymoon. I was hoping for our 5th anniversary but that is next year & who knows.
Our 2 year old is a pistol (I have a journal for her in in the mommy's journal forum). She makes our life exciting.
We all love racing. I really enjoy watching him race & cheering him on as does our little one. In fact that is the only thing she agreed to teach her little brother about (racing with daddy). I have been known to race my truck at our local tracks but nothing on a major scale all just for giggles. It really is an amazing experience which I recommend everyone try at least once in their life. I feel totally confident when I do it, mostly because I know my truck isn't that fast but its still a rush waiting for the light to go green & then flooring it (how many of us want to do that on the road?).
I used to drive hubby's racetruck to work once a year (one of my rules was that I had to be able to do that) but with the changes we made to it over the last 2 years I don't think it will be going any long distances (he dropped the stock gas tank & put in a 16 gallon fuel cell, plus it needs 110 octane gas which is $5-6 a gallon). I have never taken his truck down the track & really have no intention to. It takes a lot of learning how to control the amount of power put to the ground when racing & I don't want to learn that for just a trip or 2 down the track.
BTW, hubby races the NMRA circut (National Mustang Racing Association). We typically go to 6 races a year (all indifferent states) but this year are doing 7. So far we've been to PA, NJ, IL, GA, MI, KY, OH & the last race was in MO. If he makes it into the top 10 in points for the season we go to the awards banquet in Dec. in Indianapolis, IN. They hold it the same time as the PRI show which is like a car show for only racing equipment (fills the convention center & the RCA dome).
So your hubby has a Fairlane huh? I have a 68 Ford Torino GT (almost the same vehicle) which I was planning on restoring this summer. Now that I'm big & fat we decided to wait until next year to do the major resto on it (can't quite fit under the car or bend over the engine bay with a big belly in front).
