My mom would send me cookies when I was in college and she would just put them in a zip lock bag and fill it all the way up so the cookies didn't have room to run around and bubble wrap around the bag in the box. They usually made it to me good when she did it like this.

thats a good idea. i guess stuffing them would break a couple but keeping them from jigglign around sohuld keep them whole for the most part..

thanks!

i tried looking for ana nswer on martha stewarts site but all it said was its better to send harder cookies (sugar cookies, shortbreads) so that they wont break. but i want to send chocolate chip!

There's a wonderful solution to sending cookies through the mail. Pop some popcorn - PLAIN ONLY - no salt, butter, or other flavors. I don't use the microwaveable bags because I haven't found plain - I buy the bulk popcorn and pop them in a pan on the stove.

Put a layer of popcorn in your box, place a layer of cookies, then layer w/ popcorn - careful to make sure the popcorn fills up the spaces. Keep alternating the layers of cookies and popcorn. The popcorn works just like the popcorn styrofoam packing peanuts and helps absorb the shock of the mailing process.

Learned from my wonderful grandmother.
