Anyone start on their Thanksgiving Day plans yet?
Have any favorite Turkey Day recipes you want to share?
I'm sure the day is going to creep up on me before I know it and since it's become tradition for J and I to host it at our house, I probably should start thinking about what we are going to make!

I still haven't done this. I think this year we are ordering a pre-cooked turkey and most of the side dishes. I will make a few things, but for the most part we are going for an "easy" Thanksgiving. ;)

Hello everyone!
Wow by now I would have thought M would have had this thread over flowing with yummy recipies.
Well, my Thanksgiving Day line up is the same as always:
Turkey- Roasted of course. I am still looking for that recipie where you roast the bird with bacon, just bacon and a few other spices, but I have yet to come accross it.
Veggies of course
Sweet potatoe pie- not what ya thinking though, ours is a little different. Its Yams beat till there smooth with a little milk, butter, and pancake syrup in it. Then baked for 45 minutes, the last 10 minutes I top the whole thing with marshmellows so they melt and get golden brown, yumm.
stuffing, just your tradiotional stuffing here.
Cranberry sauce.
Apple sauce.
Desert, is my own homemade pumpkin pies (I must pat myself on the back for my pumpkin pies, they r just yummy:D ).
I will buy a apple pie from Costco heat it up and serve it with ice cream.
I'll have fruit and nuts on the table all day, and I will pick all day too.
YUMMY....
I hope everybody's Thanksgiving is wonderful! ;)

My mom and I just discussed our plans yesterday. Thanksgiving will be at our house this year, but my mom will make the turkey since our microwave isn't big enough. Everything else has to be made here because they're not using their stove in hopes that it can be replaced. Anyway, we're having:

turkey - don't know if we have any almond tequila left for it this year
stuffing - Stovetop, LOL but this is the only thing we don't make ourselves
cranberry sauce
rolls
veggie tray
broccoli cheese casserole
mashed potatoes
noodles - made from scratch :lick:
sweet potatoes
pumpkin pie
carrot cake (for something different - we usually have apple pie)

Naomi will have mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, and some of the pumpkin before we do anything to them. I'm thinking of putting some food on her highchair tray to see what happens. My aunt wants to see that. :)

k, well we finally got our menu together. it's pretty much the same as usual, nothing different.

we are eating early so that my grandparents can make it over so I am going to just put out nuts and some cut up raw veggies w/ dip pre-dinner.

for dinner we are having:
turkey
mashed potatoes
mashed sweet potatoes
stuffing
garlicky greenbeans
creamed spinach
cranberry sauce
cranberry bread

dessert:
pumpkin pie
apple pie and icecream

I'm a big fan of Le Crema for a white wine (it's a nice chardonnay, not too oaky or buttery). I think a nice Pinot Griggio goes well with turkey dinner too (but I'm Italian, so I would drink a pinot griggio with just about anything). Bello makes a good one and it's not expensive. Another really nice, light, and price conscious chardonnay is Columbia Crest. Very 'drink-able'. I like K-J chard too but it gets too buttery for me after one glass.
I have fallen in LOVE with a particular red. It's a south African shiraz-cab-merlot combo made by Gaudian Peak. It would be a wonderful red for Thankgsgiving. I crave it, it's so good. It's light (doesn't have that dry, cotton ball, puckery taste at all) but it has almost a chocolatey undertone.

We are going to my dad and stepmom's for dinner, I have begged to bring something but they keep declining (maybe they don't like my cooking???). So we are having a nice brunch at home and then some snacks while we get ready.

I had planned on Le Crema, but was looking for a red too, thanks for the suggestion D, I'll check out the Gaudian Peak.

We went to my fathers for my birthday dinner last night, they served prime rib, and opened a bottle of Fat Bastard Shiraz, and I liked it very much. I can't decide if I like it better than the Yellowtail. I only had 1 glass, red wines affect me to much to have anymore than that, those damn sulfites knock me on my butt for the entire day if I have more than one glass.

First - Fat Bastard wine is great! Strange name, but great wine! Unfortunately I'm gunshy of all wines with my migraines which kills me because I love red wine especially - oh well.

This year my family chose to eat out instead of going to my brothers. We're eating at a very nice restaurant around 11:30 am.

Then my hubby's side is convening at his mom's at 6pm but I don't think I'm going. Long story but just not into it.

Also going by the hospital to visit my next door neighbor's daddy who just had heart surgery yesterday - and we've got a bunch of other friends who want us to come by their homes too. It's usually a week of eating and sleeping! What could be better! ;)
