We have a spare room that needs to be turned into a child's room. Our little boy, Joshua is about to become a big brother (in about 6 months) and he is moving out for the nursery into his "big boy room." The room is currently a BIG MESS. We basically throw everything that hasn't yet got a place into this room. It needs to be organized, stuff given to Goodwill and we need to begin the planning process. All we have done so far is to get window coverings. We had plantation shutters installed pretty recently but that's about it. Pictures of the BIG MESS to follow later today :) Hopefully, this will get me motivated enough to at least begin the organization process!!!

Wow - I know exactly what you are going through. We are just starting the process of transforming our spare "junk" room into a nursery. It will be fun to compare notes! ;) Good luck.

C~Yes, it'll definitely be fun to compare notes. I'd love to know all your ideas and keep up with your progress. Good luck to you as well.

Well...brace yourself. Here are some pics. Keep in mind that I have a toddler who is into EVERYTHING so whenever I try an organize the room and he's around, it becomes choas again.

The first pic is of our plantation shutters....notice the mess of baby supplies on the floor below them. I'm trying to get out all Joshua's old baby stuff to see what I can reuse for #2 and what we need to buy.

Here is the rest of the room filled with lots of outgrown baby stuff and paperwork that hasn't been filled or doesn't yet have a place. Also, notice that Joshua is into EVERYTHING.

Here is the closet. One of it closed and the other with it open. Lots of baby supplies to go through in the closet-YIKES!!!! I'm a bit overwhelmed!!!

My short term goal-this weekend and this week is to get all the paperwork filled (also to find a place for the stuff that currently sits in limbo) and start organizing baby clothes in the closet by size and season. This will require me to purchase some hangers. Once the above is done I'll post more pics of my progress and set some new goals. Stay tuned....

Maybe once you get to a point where Joshua is really in the way, you could hire a babysitter or have a friend come and watch him while you go through the rest of the things. I bet you'll have this room in shape in no time. Good luck, Nicole!

Good luck. I'm so lacking in space I have things piled up everywhere.....and I have no spare room
I feel for you. It is hard to find storage for everything......and once it gets piled up you see no end to it. It seems you're starting out on the right foot. Taking things slow and organizing one thing at a time.....I may steal that idea :)

Hi Honey & Heaven~Thanks for stopping by!

I made some progress this weekend and did some organizing of all the papers lying all over the room. I actually filed them :) Definitely a start! My next step is to buy some baby hangers and start organizing baby clothes. Here is an updated pic-as you can see it looks much better.

Hi Lisa~Thanks for stopping by. I haven't done much in the spare room since last posting as I've been VERY busy with school. School ends in 4 weeks time so I'll begin the room then.

We just going to start out with a mattress to transition Joshua from his crib to a big boy bed. If he rolls (he's a restless sleeper like his mommy) the fall the the floor won't be much and it won't be painful. Once he gets used to that we'll buy him the box springs and headboard and nice bed frame.

We are trying to decide on a sheet set, a dresser and a night table. I'll post options as we find them.
