Backsplash

Have any of you ever had experience taking out a backsplash in the kitchen and replacing it with new tile? I have hated the backsplash in our house since we bought it and really want to change it but I don't know how big of a job it is. I have seen it done on home improvement shows but I can't find much info on the internet about how to do it. I thought I would ask you guys to see if you had any input. We are thinking about hiring someone to do it if it's really difficult. Any ideas?

If you've got a Home Depot or a Lowe's near you, I'd go ask their tile or kitchen guys about it. I never have done a backsplash before - but I have had to take old tile out of a bathroom... which also will depend on the age of the house.

That would be my suggestion to decide if it's something you can tackle yourself.

I wish DH was home I would have him post for you, since he is in the biz of tiles, granite, marble...
He does installs everyday, hes working 8 back-splashes today :)

I know H/D can help you as well...
Myself, I couldn't do it, I don't like doing things like this, but I can tell U from watching DH do my backsplash, my brothers and my mom's recently...
its pretty simple, and makes a huge difference :)

Let me know what size of tile ur thinking of going with, as well if your keeping it
a simple basic look.

Thanks for the tips! This project sort of got put on the backburner while I was out of the country. Now that I am back I am going to start looking into it again. When we moved into our house we redid all the tile and carpeting, we might end up using the same company for the backsplash since they did an amazing job. I will keep you all updated. :)
