View Full Version : The home hunt is on!

After much debate on buying a house versus buying a modular I am almost certain that we we're going with a modular. The ones we have our eye on are gorgeous....all finished drywall, plush carpet, real tiles in the kitchen and bathrooms, real tile on the kitchen countertops, real wood cabinets. Even the faucets are nice. It's much more practical to buy a new modular then pay the same price for a home since the price range on a new modular would be in the "fixer upper" price range of homes here.
Here are a few floor plans that we like. Deciding on exactly which one we like best will be the next hurdle to jump.
this one (http://www.deervalleyhb.com/sections/specs/reworkedPlans/6401.gif) is the smallest but has more square footage than my house and what should be enough space for us.
I like the layout of this one (http://www.deervalleyhb.com/images/homes/floorplans_mar05/meridan8007.gif) it seems to have exactly what we're looking for.
Here (http://www.deervalleyhb.com/sections/interiors/malibu.html) is a page of sample interiors.
What do you guys think?
That's awesome! I especially like the arched doorways. Overall, I prefer the bigger one, but the thing I like better about the smaller floorplan is where the bathroom is located. If you have guests over and you're all in the living room, it seems a lot easier to get to, rather than having to go through the dining room, through the family room, and then around the corner. Although if everybody is hanging out in the family room, it's all good! :)

Very cool! Some of those are really spacious. I especially like the arched doorways too. :) Good luck finding the perfect one for you!!

We put a down payment on one!!! The seller said if we changed our mind on which we one we want we could transfer the money to another.
I like the bigger one (the one we put down on) but I am so leaning toward the smaller 30 x 64. You walk in and it's just "feels" like home. I like the family room in the larger one but like I told Tommy, we want a family/game room w/ a pool table. The family room off the kitchen is a good size but the way it's laid out we would only have room for a couch/chairs and tv. If we get the smaller one we plan on building a garage off the mudroom as our main enterance. We could always add a larger family room while we're doing the garage so we can have a gameroom. He liked the idea, so I'm still unsure.
After all the hell I had last year when I was off trying to pay bills my credit is suprisingly great. We applied for every loan they had but I think I can find better interest rates if I shop around at area banks. That's on my agenda for tomorrow. We have also found some land, but I'm debating on the price. For this place to be nowhereville the price of land is pretty high.
I'll let ya'll know what we decide!

:clap:Congratulations Krysti! That's awesome news!
Oooooh and I like your choices. I can see why you were kinda torn, but I think either will be a great choice. And besides, like you said, if you change your mind, you have a while where you can move your downpayment to another model. Exciting! When would it be built by? Be sure to keep us posted!
