Hi, I'm new to the board. I've been searching the internet but couldn't find any answers.
My room gets really dusty really fast and alot of it. I don't know where it comes from. I'll clean my desk and then when I wake up the next morning, I can see so much dust already.
Can anybody help?
edit: Yeah, I've been in a dust-filled room for some 5 years and I'm kind of thinking that I have some health problems that's related to all the dust. Also, it's just my room that is dusty. My sibling's rooms are just fine. I don't know. I get frustrated everyday.

Hm, that's strange that it's just your room. I would suggest checking for cracks in your window(s) to see if that is letting dust in. You can wedge pieces of cotton from cotton balls in any drafty corners of your window to help curb dirt/dust. Our window sills get so dirty here because the windows don't seal well. That's the only thing I can think of.

House dust is made up of ash, cigarette; ash, incinerator; combustion products; fiber, synthetic textile; fibers: wool, cotton, paper and silk; fingernail filings; food crumbs; glass particles; glue; graphite; hair, human and animal; insect fragments; oil soot; paint chips; plant parts; pollen; polymer foam particles; salt and sugar crystals; skin scales, humans; skin scales, pets; soil; spores, fungal; stone particles; tobacco; wood shavings
It is amazing to me how little dust I have in the guest room (that is right next to our bedroom). However, it seems that the furniture in my bedroom (where my husband, 2 dogs and I sleep) is never dust-free. I had not cleaned or used the guest room in a 2-3 years and thought it was going to be an all day job to clean the room for company. (The guest room has book shelves with knick knacks and all that.) When I went to clean the room, there was hardly any dust on anything. My bedroom, that I had just cleaned the day before, had a light dusting on all the furniture.
So, I guess the amount of dust in a room is in ratio to the amount we use the room. Go figure.

Another thought---------Do you share your room with pets? That might add to the amount of dust you have. Also, wool and cotton blankets shed (breakdown fibers) faster than do the synthetic blankets and bed spreads.

Here is an idea........ I had this problem in our last house....
How clean is the heat ducts going to your room, I'm thinking that if you are using the furnace or the air and the ducts haven't been cleaned in awhile, that can be the source of your problem....
Heating ducts collect all kinds of dust and settles there until air is blown over it sending that dust right back into the room.
Perhaps its something to check out,
Kathy
