Fresher veggies

Any ideas as to how to keep my veggies prettier for longer. It seems that I only have 3 days before they are not usuable. I really don't want to go to the store that often.

Do you wash them ahead of time? I've learned to not wash them until right before I use them and they usually last longer. I also keep them in the "veggie" bin at the bottom of the fridge. I think it's colder down there....

I don't wash them. Maybe I'll turn the temp down in the fridge though.
