I just made a salad dressing, and I added too much salt. Anyone know a way to correct over-salting? Is there something I can add to the dressing to balance out the salt?
TIA!
I don't know if it would help in something that isn't cooked, but I've heard that adding a raw, peeled potato (or a piece of one) will help absorb the extra salt.
I've also heard of adding lemon juice (or vinegar), and/or sugar...which might work better than a potato in a salad dressing. Good luck!

That's what I was thinking Jana  I remember seeing that on the Martha Stewart show.
When I make the lemon/garlic dressing if I add too much of one thing I just add a lil extra on everything else. It takes a lot of test tasting to get it right but usually works.

I put a pinch of sugar in and that helped to neutralize it. Also, this salad had tomato and bread in it, which seemed to soak up the salt. It ended up tasting really good.

You could always double the recipe too. :) We had to do this recently when DH misread TBS for tsp. lol

The potato is "tried and true" as a solution. I've heard of people doing the sugar thing (my SIL's do that) but for a non-sugar person like me... I HATE it when they do that because then I don't want to eat whatever they've made. And wouldn't you know it... they add sugar to EVERYTHING!!! (sorry... went off on a little tangent there):)

I also now the potato thing, but it doesn't really work in a salad :), I would just add more lettuce... or maybe tomato (tomatoes always need so much salt!)
