Peepers has been throwing up a lot lately and I'm not sure what to do. TMI... he will gag up a hairball, and then throw up whatever is left in his stomach. He seems totally fine otherwise, so I'm not sure if I should take him to the vet or what. He doesn't look like he's lost weight or anything like that.
I feed him Purina One hairball formula cat food. We switched from Iams several months ago. Should I try to switch him back? He still gagged on hairballs with the Iams but not nearly as frequently.

Hmmm.. it might not hurt to take him just to be sure... at least the vet might be able to prescribe a better remedy? My sis's vet prescribed "tuna lax"-- it comes in a tube you keep in the fridge and it seems to help. Not meaning to scare you, but her cat now yacks up a furball at least once a day, and yet is apparently healthy -- this is just one of his "quirks", disugusting as it is. I bet the summer is really hard on furballs, what with the warm weather and shedding... fingers crossed it improves as the weather changes...

Abbie throws up every so often - but its due to her eating too fast. I swear she eats like a dog - will eat whatever you put in front of her. So when I feed her, I just give her half a serving at a time.
I have found that when she has a hairball and starts hacking - I can talk her through it by petting her.
Anyhow, I would talk to the vet about this to see what they think.

Definitely go to the vet - check into the hairball food (Iams is a good one - but I don't like buying their stuff because of how they treat animals in their testing) - and try brushing your kitty to help get rid of some of that extra hair for her.
Good luck! :cat:
