Old Home Restoration

Well.... we have purchased a house!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's why I have been away a lot lately. It is a late 1800's house. It was majorly remodeled in 1937, then in the late 70's there was a basement dug.... a few years later it was forclosed on.... and since then it has not had the care it deserves!!

But.... we plan to take it back to it's origional beauty! There are beautiful old metal ceilings in most of the rooms, we are currently learning how to restore those (to expensive to replace!!!) We plan to move the floor plan to it's origional state, we don't care for the way they changed the rooms in 37 durring remodeling.

Dizz that is really cool!!! Dev and I are slowly remodeling our house too! We bought ours almost 2 years ago, and it's a ton of work!!! But I enjoy it! Our house was built somewhere around 1927... No one has the exact date??? I love it though, it's a Craftsman Mission Style home. Still has the hardwood floors throughout and all the pocket doors! We are in the process of refirbishing the french pocket doors that go between the living room and dining room! They are beautiful, they have beveled glass pains (sp?). So anyway Best of Luck!!! And remember... Rome wasn't built in a day!!! So you're house doesn't get finished that quick either!!!

Congratulations Dizz!! That is so exciting and I can see from the picture that your house is going to be beautiful after a big clean-up and with proper care. That is wonderful!!!! :D

Notice that the walls on the second story all slant in..... it was built that way, that was a fad around that time.

We plan to replace the cement retaining wall with an ornamental rock wall (once we get the inside done!)
